Remain was Ahead in Jan 2016 but fell back to well behind prior to the vote.
Jo Cox's murder a week before the vote gave a boost to the remain vote...

"Those who are too blind, too ideologically committed or just too thick are never going to be converted."
They won last time and followed up by making Boris Johnson Prime Mininster.
You really want a re-match?

tbh I would rejoin tomorrow if I thought it would last past the next change of Govt, but I can live without it as there are more pressing priorities.

The next election needs to be about NHS, Schools, Social Care, Living Standards, Poverty, Welfare and fixing the austerity legacy.
Why pick a battlefield where we have already lost once?
Polarising voters does not work out well for progressive parties.

Labour is Pro-EU, with the execption of some Left Wing dinosaurs.
The question is how do you get there without the next PM being Farage.
Polarising the debate is not a strategy that benefits progressive parties.

The Issue will not be "closer economic ties with the EU" it will be "not honouring the referendum".

A large proportion of the electorate would still vote for it again.
Closer ties with the EU is more easily achieved if you do not insist on Brexiteers admitting they were wrong.
A large proprtion of Brexit Voters don't usually vote unless you invent an existential reason for them to do so.

Becos the electorate did not get duped into voting against India/US trade deals 9 years ago.
Voyers may think Brexit was a mistake now but history tells us that they don't like admitting they were wrong.
Would you rather have closer ties with the EU or to rub Brexiteer noses in it?

The reason Farage will win at the next GE is becos of idiots on the "Left" splitting the progressive vote in the pursuit of perfection.
It was the likes of you that brought the Tories into power in 2010 don't forget it when you are blaming Labour for Brexit.

I am a long-term Labour Party Member, I voted for Nandy, Cooper and D Milliband previously.
Happy with Starmer, Corbyn did a LOT of damage to the Country by enabling the Tories and Brexit , much like yourself.
In every Election in my lifetime the UK would have been better off had Labour won.

You are an odd one.....
Clegg enabled the Tories to acheive Student Fees, Austerity and Brexit so you deserted to Corbyn....
Thanks for the advice but you will forgive me if the value I place on it is small.

bit of a word salad from you but to sum up...
If you reject better then you do not always get best, UK general election have always given the left worse.

Personally my only problem with the Corbyn's Policies was that he was never going to be elected - which defeats the purpose of being leader.
John McDonnell was a far more credible PM and one of the few that came out of Corbyn leadership with credit. (he is far more pragmatic)

The biggest attack line the Tories had during the 2024 election was trying to link Starmer to Corbyn.

What destroys Labour Governments is attacks from the Left.
Bevan and Wilson's resignations (prescription charges) 1951 => 13 years of Tory Govt
Winter of Discontent 1978 => 18 years of Tory Govt
Stop the War 2003 => 14 years of Tory Govt
Wait and you see what Reform/Tories will do for workers...
comment in response to
post
Labour has never had to convince the electorate that it is on the side of the Worker. From the NHS in 1945, to the minimum wage in 1998 it has delivered.
Right wing attacks on Labour have almost exclusively been about financial credibility.

Spot on Dave
I'm not sure why more people don't unnecessarily shit talk this govt and bring in another Tory/Reform Government. Certainly would make life better for workers....errm if you ignore what they have said and what they have done that is.
