POSITIVE: They found a legit 1C and leader in Nick Suzuki
NEGATIVE: Kirby Dach likely won't be the 2C of the future.

They need 2 players on the 2nd line and to get nastier on D.
Hopefully HuGo can do it this summer.

I don't like the timing. If you draft a C, the player won't be ready for a good 3-4 years.
The rebuild needs a 2C more quickly than that, I also don't think you can bank your rebuild on that pick.
IMO you trade one or both of these 1sts for a 2C who can play next year.

Disagree, it ended January 6th 2021 when Trump and his cronies attempted a Coup and nothing happened to any of them.

Team is choking under the pressure cause none of the core has been there before.
Suzuki/Caufield made the playoffs, but they werent leading the team in 21.

He stayed in Toronto until his contract ended. IIRC Leafs fans were mad at him for it.

He doesn't get to say that. It's Dubas who does.
Crosby has a full NMC, he cannot be waived to be forced into a move. Crosby has final say.

Struble.
Guhle should be the one playing with Hutson.
Savard is playing poorly, but running 5 LDs isn't great either.

They could've added a Daniel Sprong for a 7th just to not have Pezz in the lineup.

I can't be mad about it because there's not a deal that happened yesterday that the Habs should've been on.
Cozens moved, but the Habs didn't have an asset like Norris to trade.
There's Laughton, but it would've costed the Habs CGY 1st + a decent prospect to get him and he's not ideal.

They can't go into next season without a proven 2C anyway. Maybe Dach ends up on wing.

They still need to sell, their shot was before the 4 Nations and they blew it.

51st state means tanks and bombs and bending the knee.
And probably little help from the outside world, since nobody will go against the US.

Montembeault. He's still the starter. However, it might be time to split the starts like the Bruins used to do with Swayman/Ullmark.

The only one I could see them move is Dvorak.
He's not returning and they potentially have a replacement ready with Beck.

If you move Evans, you likely need to pay another C similar money. You can't go into next season with Beck and Kapanen as 3 and 4C.

If you go by Goals Above Expected/60, he's the worst with Arturs Silovs.
It's not that big of a deal because he's cheap and MTL isn't really trying to win, but Primeau is not a NHL goalie.

My worry with the Habs this season is every time they give you the impression that the team is progressing, they will play a game like yesterday.

Why not both?
You need a 2C since the Kirby Dach experiement isn't working, and you need a top 4 D in his prime to replace Savard and give the team stability.
They are 30th, they need a lot of help.

Why would that world not exist?
The Habs are still not playing great even with Laine. and a fully healthy lineup. They won vs NYI and NSH (2 bad teams) and they were close games. They are significantly closer to Hagens than they are to a playoffs spot.

They shouldn't add for this year, the team is not good enough and need a high pick.
Go get that 2nd C/top 4 RD in the offseason. You have 4 picks in the top 40.

I agree, I don't think they can go into next season without a top 4 defensemen in his prime.
Matheson will eventually be phased out, and Savard is barely holding on at the moment.
A D squad of Hutson, Guhle, Reinbacher is too young.

I feel it's bigger than that. If it was about standing out, top players wouldn't be worried to be left out, same with players with long term deals.
Players, for the most part, do not seem to care about their safety (helmets, visors, etc.) and I don't think they want to lose money via suspensions.

Unfortunately, I don't think the players want it to change.
Fans can't force a change if the victims don't see themselves that way.

Not spending his 1sts in the early 2010s to help Price instead of using them to draft average at best players.

It's ultimately why I think they have to draft Hagens or Misa.
They need a C better than Suzuki and chances are, it won't be Dach.
Draft Hagens/Misa, then play Dach on wing or trade him for a legit top 4 D.

Looks like the Flames last season, they accepted early that the season was over and started trading assets in November.

I wouldn't call up Dobes, but Connor Hughes however...
The guy is 28, so it's not like we would be rushing anything and I'm intrigued by his strange development path.
