My parents live in Indiana and have had ICE raids in their town, so at least not exclusively

I respect that you want to keep the format consistent throughout, but I think the first one should be Star Pope: The Motion Popeture

I was just visiting Athens, and went running in the Panathenaic Stadium, that felt really cool

Senator, I am now longer your constituent, but was when I lived in Greenbelt. Of all the people who have represented me in Congress, you are the one I am most proud of

This is not exactly the point, but I am in Greece and just had a bowl of feta baked with peppers, cherry tomatoes, and chili flakes, and it was kinda like someone asked for the fanciest possible incarnation of a Chicago style pizza

I feel like, if there's any numerical basis to it at all, it will come out that they're treating trade deficits like a tax, or something like that.

Have you read Our Wives Under the Sea? "Came back different" is a big part of it

It worked

Have you noticed how you moved from "use physical force" to "launch an invasion" and how those are not exactly the same thing

And lo, did he thus step out with his left foot, and verily did it tread upon the blade of the rake

I think this can echo some of the thematic beats of the OT (e.g. twist ending of second movie) but without just doing the same thing again

I think it can even fit the same trilogy set up. I: Endar Spire to Taris to Dantooine. Finishes with discovery of the star maps and main quest. II: adventures on Manaan and Kashyyyk. Ends with capture on the Leviathan, identity reveal. III: Korriban, star forge, final confrontation

You are maybe the only journalist I've followed throughout basically my whole time following politics on social media, and this approach is why. Now is not the time for niceties. It is a time for hard truths

Oh ok that's a lot less random then, thanks

Fixated on imagining a sequel to Tropic Thunder, a satire from 2008, as the very specific solution to being intellectually taxed by Severance. Like how did his mind go to Tropic Thunder specifically???

I move around a lot and I collect library cards from wherever I go

Yeah, similarly I listen to an audio book of a book I know really well. So thr sound distracts me from my thoughts but there's no suspense to keep me awake

In the books, he comes from a city where the fashion is for men to dye their facial hair bright colors. There's a lot more specificity to the cultures that gets lost in the show

I was mostly just mad they changed his appearance from the books, where he had a green beard and purple moustache

Also, intentionally or no, it kinda kicks anyone who did like their work while they're already down.

I didn't travel anywhere for most of my life, then I moved to Germany for work and have started branching out.

Any idea yet on if there could be wider theatrical releases? I'm good for at least two tickets in Berlin, FWIW
comment in response to post
We did have fun! Watching in Berlin, it does come with German subtitles, so we had that bit of intrusion as well (especially in the scenes where there are already native English subtitles), but still effectively atmospheric. Thought it updated the original in a lot of neat ways.

Fuck you

Going to see it tomorrow!

I'm sorry to hear that, and I hope things will go better next year. If there's ever anything random on bluesky can do to help from a distance, please ask.

On a technical level
comment in response to post
Think maybe the remake is less good on a technically level but Denzel and Travolta are fun to watch. Also James gandolfini

Original or Denzel

Thanks. I've been living in Germany and taking German classes at the university, but the course schedule is getting too hard to work around my work schedule. So looking for alternatives
