Thank you!!! I was dreading figuring out how to code this up in shaders, but a CSS solution would probably be just as performant :)

This is really cool!! The amoeboid shape is wonderful!
I’ve been working on a simulation game of the immune system on and off for the past few years and I haven’t cracked the graphics yet. Would you mind if I took some inspiration from this?

It’s sad to think that a human friend, while certainly more complicated, will outlive an AI company by a factor of 30.

One of Johnson's cats had cancer and was undergoing treatment. Ozturk wrote down the dates of vet appointments and texted Johnson to wish the cats well on the day of treatment.

sadly, is a dangerous business, but college students don’t deserve this.
*you consistently prove me right & just as this was the only campus that MLK could speak at in Mississippi in the 1960s… it’s 2025, and this country is still stuck on hate…I’m proud to say Tougaloo is tough & so am I.

Sadly, a woefully large group of people will call this “winning” 🤦♂️

And that was the day I vowed to question everything that was told to me, not without first understanding why they were being said—all because someone took the time to have a dialogue with me.
Thank you, genuinely, @bigjoel.bsky.social for the video and sticking up for trans kids 🏳️⚧️.

bless his soul, Mr. Schmidt, asked me if I knew what the words I had just said meant. Of course, I did not! But because he understood our background, culture, and circumstances, didn’t shame me for saying it, and instead told me about the rich history of cooperation that existed between our peoples.

One day… I said something extremely regrettable in private. I parroted a sound bite that my father told me, one that in saying out loud, made me understand what “bigotry” meant. As the words left my mouth, I knew in the moment, that I was to never say something like that again. The counselor…

but for 45 minutes a day, I got to talk to the three sweetest and grounding people on the planet. I got to talk to them about EVERYTHING—my future, my family, my worries, world politics, video games, and they listened to it all.

It reminded me of one particular day in 8th grade.
Because I took a morning math class at the high school, which ended in between two classes, I spent the time in the counselor’s office. Typically, a straight A student wouldn’t be spending much time talking to counselors,

Haha sorry I just want to point out something funny about what you said here:
1) you used “simply” to describe a highly nuanced situation, and
2) you mention “double standard”—but the fact of the matter is that the standards used by the beauty industry often neglects huge swaths of people.

Let me give you a small hint, maybe one for the road?
If you don’t understand the lived experience of those with Black hair in a world where most hair products and stylists optimize for a different status quo, then it’s time for you to watch the short film, Hair Love: youtu.be/kNw8V_Fkw28

For sure, even the consumer grade tech can be used for terrible things (see theintercept.com/2024/04/05/g...).
My guess is that because the government has a higher burden of proof, they’ll need to pass stricter scrutiny in courts—which they definitely get with these machines. But who am I to say!

I look forward to the equivalent graphs in 50 years or so but the y-axis will be like “humans left on Earth” or “number of states left in the union.”

Ah, is it because gravity is applied to the center of mass of the system but because of the trinary system, the center of mass is moving about a relatively large circle, so the path of orbit gets wonky?

It’s true: technology always fills its container—if we live in a prison+surveillance+misogynistic state, then technology will find a way to fill that niche.
In a different society, this tech could exist as a silly, consensual sex toy and nothing more. In ours, it simply shouldn’t exist.

You may have fallen victim to the cruel law of hipness: when your dad knows about it, it’s not hip anymore.
Unfortunately, due to the breakneck speed at which information travels—once the osmosis has reached you, it’s too late.
Thankfully, you’re ahead of the curve for vintage slang!

That’s true, but I’m sure the close up scan includes some hyper-detailed, stereographic information which the shitty DMV or passport photo won’t be able to capture. This is just a hunch, but I think it’s possible encode facial features without saving the image, like Face ID. Maybe exactly for that!

Seriously! Like even if they could somehow beam words directly into people’s brain… the company will inevitably go out of business.
What then for all those who become so reliant on it that they can’t even formulate their own sentences? Now I would watch that as an episode of Black Mirror!

It inspired me to create a deck
themed around three Pokémon with “meta”-defining abilities, affectionately called “Porydactydoof”. These are:
- Porygon-Z: change opponent’s energy types
- Aerodactyl: reshuffle the active Pokémon
- Bidoof: halve HP
It doesn’t quite hit hard enough but it is fun!

HAHA that would WIPE with turn 1 Misty-Articuno.
It reminds me of the dumbest edge case involving Bidoof, the one that halves HP—turns out that it can still damage Pokémon who are impervious, like Dugtrio after using dig. I discovered this on pure accident, and I was dumbstruck when I landed a hit!

The next few tests will likely be:
Test #6 - Can we detain U.S. citizens under the Patriot Act, and deport them quickly?
Test #7 - Can we act upon mass surveillance data to detain people?
Test #8 - How many white supremacists are state actors?
Test #9 - Can presidential pardons be automated?
