I totally agree with your sentiment! I didn't mean to empathize with the maga males as much as to poke fun. They seem to be people who feel weak and vulnerable and deal with that by developing a swagger and a attitude of superiority that is unwarranted.

I wonder how many of the MAGA "alpha males" were bullied as kids. I'm betting it's a disproportionately high percentage compared to other groups of U.S. males. The same way the Christian right has the highest divorce rates.

Setting the poverty line at 50% of median income in the country is the way most of the developed world measures it. The U.S. poverty line for an individual is set at about half of this amount currently. So we "underestimate" poverty in the U.S. compared to how many others measure it.

The confusion abounds. He cuts all DEI without seeming to be aware of what it even involves in various settings and at the same time calls for measures against anti-Semitism! Huh?

Question: Have we seen a successful and stable economy in history or currently that did not trade with neighbors? Is trade not what spurred on capitalist economies? The biggest traders, like the Dutch, became wealthiest.

I think much of our progress in the last 50 years has come from programs like this both inside organizations and on a broader scale

I'm not surprised. I'd be interested to know where this graphic came from and to get more information. Is there an ACA website that presents this information I wonder?

And what difference does it make? You actually monitor those you're following for frequency of posts? How do you even gather that information?

It's a fine line as to what we would call terrorism I think. If a political aim is present but is not acknowledged or verbalized is it still terrorism? For example widespread assaults and murders of women, hate crimes against minorities, etc.

There are probably actually more than two sides to any story. Our interpretation of information is based on our values and goals.

I think we run into this issue of believing that data speaks for itself. I believe it does not. Rather it has to be interpreted and contextualized.

I like the approach taken by Ground News. You can look at a particular story as it was presented in a variety of news sources both right and left. They label news sources (NYT, Breitbart) as leaning right or leaning left.
