Two low-effort guitars with emoji wings, one on a guitar emoji, and one on a wikipedia photo of a guitar. Either of those would be infinitely better in every way.

Thanks, I appreciate the tip!

One thing that shocked me seeing the cars in person was how vivid McLaren's cars are. Your photo has the shade of papaya I remember seeing, and the broadcast makes it look totally different. It's hard though, my photo looks even more washed out than the broadcast.

Engaging with her work in any way keeps it in the cultural lexicon. HBO loved how much Game of Thrones was pirated, because it led to more subscriptions. It would be better to fill your time with other art, so you fill your headspace and conversations with those works instead of HP.

I'm also hurting actors and filmmakers by not watching the movies, I'm hurting editors and publishers by not reading the books. That's the entire point, there's a massive economy feeding into her hatred for trans folks, and the best way to help is to not engage with her work in any way.

Or you could just find other games. There's a trope about how everyone has far too big a Steam backlog to ever play everything, why play this game that helps the HP cultural dominance when you could play Celeste or Outer Wilds or Slay the Princess or literally anything else made by good people?

Incidentally, I discovered them a few years ago when they opened for Silversun Pickups, who ALSO just started a new tour. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfZ9...

There's an Aussie band that just started their first headline tour of the US that I highly recommend. Their latest album has a very dreamy feel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xhrm... Their previous album was an intentional throwback to late 90s pop-rock: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlzB...

Piracy keeps her media culturally relevant, which leads to more people spending money on it. Buy something worthy of your time AND your money, then you'll also be playing something worth recommending to your friends.

Don't even pirate it, just play something else. As long as her media has cultural relevance, she will get money from it, regardless of whether it's direct or indirect. HBO loved how much Game of Thrones was pirated, because everyone talked about it, and the talk sold more subscriptions.

Can you give an example of a question you've asked on a subject you're not familiar with? Because genuinely, if accessible articles are not available on a subject, that is a problem where the proper solution is to hire a writer who knows how to properly research and consolidate information.

Seems to be Future Primitive Brewing in Seattle. A different printing of the label had their name on the front.

Paraphrasing from @tamslick.bsky.social, talking about Discs, 110, and all those other compact films: "If a photograph requires a subject, then most of the stuff I [processed in the lab for customers] was just exposed film."

I'm not nostalgic for CDs because I never stopped buying them. There are tons of albums that it's the only lossless format available.

If I hired a fresh graduate developer to my team I would also expect a high error rate, but the expectation is that the time spent correcting their mistakes will be valuable to the learning process, and 18 months later I'll have a teammate I can rely on.

I will say that I doubt corporate pride is ever *purely* cynical. I knew someone who was the head of a large company's LGBT employee group, and any pride support they showed was a direct result of his hard work convincing execs. There's always SOMEONE who cares, even if they're not at the top.

Information retrieved from a book can be vetted against the trustworthiness of the source. If you read multiple books with conflicting information you can discern which one is more accurate. Get an answer back from ChatGPT and it can't tell you the source of its information. Off to the library...

A co-worker asked a question in our Teams chat, another co-worker responded with an AI-generated answer that was verifiably wrong -- if you ran the code that the AI spat out it literally gave the opposite result from what it claimed.

R6 Siege is the most recent AAA game I own, and it's coming on its 10th anniversary. My favorite games of the past few years are Outer Wilds, Slay the Princess, Receiver 2, and Celeste.

I disagree, even consumption of media you already own helps keep the series in the cultural lexicon. Your coworker asks about your weekend, and you spent it re-reading Book 3. What do you say? If you'd read something else instead, you could talk about that book and encourage them to read it.

What about more roasted veggies? Seems like that would allow you to have the seasoning level independent of how much oil you use. A greek salad would also be more dense than a lettuce-based one.

I've seen you hang around a bunch of Super Metroid chats, ever thought of running it? :)

As a not-PRKD runner, I've never changed my stance on it. Grav jump every time. :)

As far as I can tell on PC it's using system emotes here too.

One time I sat down and fell asleep before everyone was finished boarding, then woke up an hour later and we were still on the ground. Turns out the flight had been delayed by snow and we hadn't even started taxiing yet.

To anyone still engaging with her work, if this isn't your line in the sand then what is?
comment in response to post
Absolutely. Universal Studios will continue to have a Hogwarts section as long as people debate which house they'd be in. And the more you engage with other media the more it will fill that space in your mind, and in your conversations.

My constant comparison, the Ford Fusion vs the Edge. For $10000 more you have to lug around 1000 extra pounds, but people like it more cause of the higher driver position giving them a feeling of safety. The only Cars made by US brands now are the Mustang, Corvette, and Charger.

I just recently learned about the Phil Anselmo thing, and how many other musicians knew and ignored it for a long time. Good on Robb Flynn for calling it out in this video though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCBK...

I loved him in that X-Files episode where he took Mulder hostage and needed to keep going west or he'd die. I still haven't seen Breaking Bad, but apparently this was the role that got him that part.

I buy plenty of games, my comment was about reduced manufacturing costs playing a part in keeping prices steady over the last 30 years. The other half of that was my apathy at the AAA industry in the last 20 years. I rarely hear about indie games at launch, so I'm often playing them years later.
comment in response to post
If we were still buying Printed Circuit Boards that needed to be shipped across the world the comparison might hold. Flash carts give a good idea of cost. But 20+ years of Steam has made me not want to pay that much for games. I bought Metroid Dread at launch, the last one before that was Portal 2.

He's been getting progressively worse, but he sicced his followers on the cave diver back in 2018, and that was enough for many people to avoid the brand that he's willingly made himself the face of.

I don't even understand the love from the average consumer for cheap-ish crossovers. The Edge was $10k more and 1000 lbs heavier than the Fusion, and all you get in return is 10 inches of height that gives the *perception* of safety.

If you look at antique shops or garage sales you might be able to get really good lenses for cheap, that might even be usable on modern DSLRs with manual focus. After my girlfriend's dad learned I got into photography he gave me his old film camera and lenses, he hadn't used them in 20 years.

I wonder if there's something to do with how frequently Nascar drivers DNF. Each of last year's championship 4 had 4-6 DNFs in the season, where the top 4 in F1 had either 0 or 1. When your favorite driver isn't there anymore, you've gotta have a backup to root for.
