TOPIC: Hey, everyone--it's been a good year for #kidlitchat here on Bluesky, and the community is growing! Let's push some tables together, grab a slice of pie, pull up a chair and introduce (or re-introduce) ourselves.

Hey - I'm an unpublished illustrator, new to the chat. I recently attended SCBWI for the first time... a retreat at Sequoyah State Park for OK/AR. @Brian LaRossa recommended I join Bluesky (went to his webinar). If you have any tips on when is the right time to get an agent, please comment!
Hi #kidlitchat ! I'm a sporadic joiner, a prepublished author illustrator currently procrastinating sketches for a #pb dummy, aspiring #kidlit #graphicnovel ist, member of the @kcsanthology.bsky.social project! I also illustrat for #selfpublishing.
Dear #kidlit peeps, This #Latinx former #teacher who writes #nonfiction #picturebooks about #nature that empower kids with #wonder and #hope is happy to sit down under a #Bluesky and have a slice of pie with y’all!
Hi everyone! I’m a Kidlit author/illustrator. I’m brand new here on Bluesky— setting up my account as I write this & trying to figure this all out! Happy to be here amongst you! 😊
I’m late but hi #kidlitchat I’m Candice, a school librarian for grades 4K-6th grade. I also teach gifted students in 3rd-6th grades. I’m on our SC school library association board and I’m also part of our children’s book award committee. Lastly but not least, I’m a member of #BookPosse.
#kidlitchat Just realized I could have written more about myself. I write funny/quirky PBs (I just copied someone else who said the same thing 😁). Getting frustrated by the number of agents who rep only author-illustrators, though I do understand the economics of it. I live in Massachusetts.
Hi #kidlitchat I co-wrote At the Heels of History doggy chapter books with Pam Berkman, and my Wolf Chronicles series published for adults but crosses over into YA/MG! Both with Simon & Schuster. So glad to be here instead of at the musky place!
Hi! I’m Cathleen, and I teach 1st grade at a small school in central NJ. I love sharing picture books with my littles, and middle grade stories for my 2 nieces.
I’m also on booksta, and I share about the NY Mets.
I try to be funny in my kids books. I'm still working on it, though I find silly, at least, easy. Lately, I've been trying to be funnier in my adult books. To that end I have a notebook just for jokes where I write down when someone says something funny or I'm in a funny situation. It's pretty fun.
It honestly just comes with practice. Trying out new material. Especially with kids. If you can figure out the secret to what kids find funny, you'll have a gold mine.

Hi #kidlitchat. I'm a teacher librarian at two elementary schools in CA. One is traditional and the other is a two-way bilingual school (Spanish/English). I share
#kidlit with students from TK-6th grade. I've been an educator since 1992 and a teacher librarian since 2006. Happy to be here. :)
Nice to meet you! Many of the kid's books I've written incorporated math (and I wrote a story about Isaac Newton that's still sitting in the onedrive...) See you next time.
Late to the #kidlitchat but eager to reconnect with pals from X so I can get back to promoting #MG books. Follow for future giveaways of my MG and PBs!
Hi #kidlitchat
I'm Stacey! I'm a Caribbean author-illustrator and my debut is in 2025. My work is inspired by nature, magic and folklore. I’m excited to see the kid lit community grow on Bluesky.
Hi #kidlitchat ! I'm Tiff, I have illustrated 3 published books and am hoping to do more (and hopefully author one too, someday)! I currently teach art at a college on the Canadian prairies and am—as always!—delighted to be here checking out what all you lovely creative people are working on! 💖
A bit late to the chat, but hey #kidlitchat!
I'm Amelie, I'm an aspiring kidlit illustrator based in Wales, and I love incorporating traditional printing methods and digital drawing to create textured illustrations. I love telling queer stories, and exploring Welsh folklore! 🌈🎨
Very late to this sorry! Hi #kidlitchat I'm Bex, an aspiring writer from the UK, currently living in Switzerland. I've been writing stories about magic since I was a kid, & used to be pretty active in the writing community in the bad place. Hoping to get back into things here & start writing again!
Hey everyone! New to Bluesky and excited to connect, learn and grow. I’m a retired pediatric surgeon who blogged for 5 years sharing parenting and healthcare tips! Now I’m working on my debut middle grade mystery! Cover design in works. Entering self publishing world next year. Pray for me!
Hey #kidlitchat! I’m an editor for the Atheneum imprint at Simon & Schuster. I edit everything from PB, MG/YA, graphic novels, and select nonfiction. I’ve had the opportunity to work w/bestselling and award-winning creators and truly believe kidlit/YA books help make the world a better place.
Oh that’s a tough question! A couple of the ones that are publishing the soonest are Stalactite & Stalagmite by Drew Beckmeyer (a funny and surprisingly comforting picture book) and All the Tomorrows After by Joanne Yi (a beautifully written and hopeful YA novel) - two very different books 🤪
Hi, everyone! I’m Meg, managing editor of MG and YA fiction at Flux and Jolly Fish Press, where we accept novel submissions of all genres. I also write YA sci-fi/fantasy for fun. I’m excited to hang out with you all at the #kidlitchat tonight!
Hi Meg! It will be so great to have you join the chat tonight! Have you discovered Deck.Blue yet? It works like Tweet Deck, and I've found it really helpful for this chat since it allows multiple feed columns so I can see both the KidLitChat and notifications on posts/replies I've made.
I really appreciate you mentioning this. I have https://deck.blue but it’s been a long while since I’ve used it, so I’ll be sure to reacquaint myself with it before tonight’s chat! Thanks!
Hi, i just joined Bluesky so I'm on a learning curve. I'm a bilingual (English-Spanish) writer and translator living in Mexico City, where I was born. I've published stories and over 70 books mainly in Mexico and the USA. Looking forward to being in this group.
Hey, everyone! I've published poetry, essays, and academic stuff, but now I'm returning to my first love: middle grade novels. I'm at the query stage of that journey. #kidlitchat
I joined a while back but have finally given up on X so here I am wholeheartedly. The positive energy on Blue sky is so welcoming. I’m a kids’ book author (2 pubbed) and a bookseller at my local Salt Lake indie, The King’s English. Greetings to you.
Hi all at #kidlitchat ! I’m Autumn Seybert an author/illustrator who is unpublished for now. I am taking a ukulele class at the community college this month and will sometimes not be able to be home for #kidlitchat but I’d love to connect with folks in the meantime!
Nice to meet you, Autumn. I love Ukulele. I get into it and then stop and then start and then stop. It's been about a 5 year ukulele journey and I'm MAYBE intermediate, but I've been doing it all on my own. Might stick with it more with an in person class...
Hi Sarah! Nice to meet you too!
I get what you’re saying; Thats why I’m taking the class! I learned a bit on my own but life kept happening so this class has really helped and its only four classes so that’s great too for me. its nice meeting other friendly uke players!
That’s great! I visited your website. You’re a really talented / skilled artist. I illustrated some of my kids books myself using work arounds to make up for my lack of ability, like I made coloring books by tracing photographs. I wish I could draw but doubt I’ll ever devote the time to learn. Sigh.
Hello #kidlitchat! I write queer MG in historical settings, my debut COTTONOPOLIS has just come out. I am also an editor with two academic essay collections out in 2025, one on healthcare in kidlit and one on Mildred D. Taylor 💙📚
New here, former teacher & school-based library media specialist, now training & mentoring new LMS in my district role as Instructional Specialist. So happy to find like-minded individuals here, hoping 4 same life-blood of Twitter (back in the day), where we all shared via focused slow chats, etc.
Hey #KidLitChat! I’m an Australian illustrator, working mainly on chapter books/junior fiction series, the first of which was published in July, ELLA AND THE AMAZING FROG ORCHESTRA 🐸
Hi #kidlitchat, I'm working on a #pb. Looking for other artists who share their process. Bunny wants to métamorphose after meeting a monarch butterfly. Grazie 🩵
I'm so happy to meet you, even virtually. I'm currently an elementary art teacher, making a transition to full time artist. One of my favorite units I teach in 4th grade is based on Haida Art. I love teaching, and I loved the farm kitchen business I ran for 18 years. Now I need to be an artist.
Whoa, SO amazing to see so many new faces here at #kidlitchat! I can't keep up with all the introductions but look forward to catching up with them later.
Just discovered #kidlitchat today❣️🤗 I readaloud kidlit on my YouTube channel and my podcast of sleepstories for children. I also write stories for kids.
Been wanting to join in on this chat for a while now. I'm David Hohn. Picture book illustrator and instructor in the PCNA illustration department here in Portland Oregon. Just went to my first in-person SCBWI conference in 4 years this last Saturday!
hello! i'm super late to the party but i just made my bluesky today. i write #mglit about animals, especially pigeons, and i'm an ecology grad student when i'm not doing that :) currently trying to query and it's going.... less than good so if anyone has any advice i am all ears :)
I’m a middle grade author and this is my first day on Bluesky and #kidlitchat, hoping to connect with other writers and readers. Wouldn’t mind a few agents and editors, too!
👋 Just left The Other Platform. I'm a NYC teacher & writer, & one of those dads who will show you ~1000 pictures of his kids if you ask to see one. Mostly, I've written MG & YA, but recently started writing #picturebooks after reading (& loving) so many with my daughter. #kidlit #kidlitchat #mglit
Hi #kidlitchat — UK author calling in. I’ve been writing kids books for 2–teen for the last 30 years, mostly mythology based. I’m taking a break now to work on poetry and an adult mythology book, but still love this community.
