One thought on the Colts going back to Anthony Richardson this week: the Jets run defense has really struggled this year. Imagine they see the benefits of having him next to Jonathan Taylor, and the opportunity for the rushing attack.

As a season ticket holder I was so excited for this season. I knew it would be a roller-coaster with AR but Steichen has done him no favors w play calling. If he truly had preparation issues why weren't those addressed last year?? Something is not right. But I hope AR lights it up this week. 🐎🏈💙
As I have my fair share of JT I hope so but looking to the Steelers switch from Fields + Harris to Russ, I think the whole identity of an offense can change with these kinds of changes. It also means less use of slot Josh Downs which is already inflaming many in the ff community lol.
That move was always a little weird. Richardson was playing really poorly but at the same time moving on from their second year passer on a team that isn’t nearly as good as they thought to play 72 year old Flacco didn’t make sense. Ditto the Panthers and Dalton
Like if you’re gonna be below average as a team anyway, may as well do it with someone who could still “potentially” become someone you can rely on OR someone that plays well enough to entice another team to trade for them.
Problem is, same as CAR and now the CHI (with reports out that some veterans see Caleb struggling and think he should be benched for a bit in favor of Bagent), at some point if you keep losing while trying to forcefeed the team a learning QB, you risk losing the rest of the room/quitting on him.
Yeah I definitely get that side of it. But the flip side is just as bad. Playing a vet that you will not have a future with (because of age) could lead to the rest of the team feeling like “what are we working towards here”. Especially if the vet in question isn’t playing well either.
Yes, but ultimately, football players want to win today. It's a violent sport & they're putting their bodies and future health on the line every week. The average NFL career lasts less than 3 yrs. In their view it's coaches' & GM's job to worry about long term player/organizational development.
It's a nice thought but Steichen has never shown himself to be a run first play caller. I'd put money down that he's still pass heavy with AR on Sunday.
I wonder if they will empower Richardson himself to run more too - feels like they (or he) pulled that back in his other starts? Maybe not , but felt like he was making less use of that part of his game.
Poor Anthony Richardson. One minute, down in the dumps and labelled the most unprofessional NFL player in the league. Next thing, he’s the messiah and all is forgiven. Not the best way to run a franchise
I'm salty about Richardson, I drafted him to be my fantasy QB and alls I got was a big steaming pile of nothing. Now watch him light it up for 50 fantasy points since I dropped him.
Mina, I'd be interested to see what the temperature difference is like for you on here vs. X. Saw some real unnecessary garbage on the other one. Better here?
I think there will still be ignorance that slowly shows itself here, but provided the environment continues to focus on encouraging true engagement, there is hope. Ignorance can learn in that kind of environment, rather than be celebrated for being ignorant.
I'm not sure if his back is up to it right now.
The Jets have imploded now, so maybe the Colts can actually win this one. I'm not holding my breath, though...
This is the week that Steichen looks like a genius for going back to Richardson because the Jets suck…but reality sets in the rest of the season and we all cry into our beards that we just wasted a great JT year. #Colts
This game should be fun to watch. Literally anything could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if a sink hole opened up in the end zone and they play around it.
Exactly why IND +4 will be a top bet. Still crunching the numbers but if #IND just stubbornly pounds the rock and throws 5-10 deep bombs, the #NYJ defense will throw in the towel like they multiple times this year. Their defense was exposed as soft in week 1 against the #49ers.
The Colts have really struggled in that position since losing Peyton Manning. There was a glimmer of hope with Andrew Luck but it's been generally disappointing.
Good point! Having Richardson and Taylor together sounds like a game-changer for the Colts’ run game. Do you think they’ll lean more on the rush this week to take advantage of the Jets’ defense?
I happened to hear Aaron Rogers on the Pat McAfee show yesterday talk about the importance of having QB mentors for young QBs in the NFL and I’m curious about the relationship between Richardson and Flacco.
Andrew Luck’s retirement was kind of like the Pacers brawl in 2004. Unexpected events that just wrecked the franchise for 6-7 years.
There have actually been some bright spots with Richardson when they get the designed runs and RPO stuff going. But I fear the precision passing just isn’t there.
Finally analysts are realizing what UF fans who watched him week to week in college knew: AR is an incredible athlete who will make 2-3 WOW plays a game but consistently gets nicked up on routine plays & has some of the worst accuracy of any QB ever. He’s way more Josh Freeman than Cam Newton.
I also think they are caving to public opinion and scrutiny. It sucks because from my view it looks like AR is not showing up on time, not working, not doing his job. They aren't saying that to protect him, and as a result the Colts fans are pissed. Unfortunate
Q: why should the commanders rush back Latimore or Robinson back from injury for tomorrow night? Seems better to just take the L and use the 10 days to get everyone healthy for stretch run
I was thinking the same thing as I re-ran projections for the switch. “Oh that’s nice of the Colts to bring back A-Rich in a terrible passing matchup…oh wait…”
I hope this young man gets some good coaching and OL support.
He has some good tools. I want all these rookie QB’s to succeed, but they need help. This ain’t college ball.
I think going back to Richardson is just a sign that the Colts accepted the fact that this season is essentially a lost season. They made the switch to flacco thinking he was the best chance of a playoff spot, but now that he lost 2 straight, its time to develop Richardson with a lost season
Man should have never started this or last season, we need to go back to a time when we let rookie QBs actually sit and learn the game before we throw them to the wolves

Are the Jets cursed?
Or just bad ownership?
Let’s hope (or not 😆) the Cowboys buck that trend, at least in the GM spot..
Was this a punishment for the bad media?
Did the team get pissed that he tapped out and lost the team?
Seemed like a strange decision to move away from him and a stranger one to jump back.
Explained only really by a ‘forced’ 2 week sit..

CONFIRMED BY MINA KIMES
But hell yeah!!!
I wonder if Richardson can be the guy.

It’s only my second year on FF, so trying to figure it out. 😆
