It’s not about TikTok. It’s about Trump being in cahoots with TikTok so that it can be censored and controlled and us being straight on our way to a fascist regime. It’s about the bigger picture. Our media is being censored and controlled.
Perhaps consider that some people value it and having it fucked with is painful...imagine this, some people have nothing else (get past your ignorance). How many people got desperate when it went dark? You CAN choose sensitivity and you can do better!
That right does not come with the right to express that speech on any one particular platform, same as an app banning a user also does not infringe on this right.
Google the right to peaceably assemble. Then throw in a few searches along the lines of "they can't call tiktok unique and then tell us we can recreate it elsewhere because that's not how the law works."
The difference - an app can ban users because the app is a private company that users agree to t&c’s, not a government entity. The government cannot ban speech because of the 1st amendment.
Nothing here was about banning specific content *because* of that content. This decision had NOTHING to do with the 1st amendment, but people seem to insist it did, so they can feel persecuted I guess? 🤷♀️
You aren't going to get cool points for saying "lol Tiktok bad". You just sound like a teen mean girl.
You clearly are completely uninformed about what Tiktok was and did for millions of Americans. The communities it created, the jobs it created, the lives it saved, the fundraising, the education.
Sounds like you need to dig a little deeper. This isn't about the app. It's about government priorities while people are unhoused and starving, blatant corruption, lies, manipulation, and billionaires buying our government.
it’s about freedom of speech. If you’re not a user that’s cool but don’t get it twisted, it could be anything but it was an app that connects people quickly, it’s about control how we get and exchange ideas and information. It’s a problem Trump created and is now getting credit for ‘fixing’
And people act like they don’t understand the dangers of government overreach at the hand of billionaires that can’t compete on an even playing field. And now the right will have ALL the social media channels to shill on.
I had lunch with a friend today, she is 48. she was so upset that tiktok was closed. then she got about 10 calls, she kept ignoring b/c we were eating. she finally answered, thinking it was an emergency. it was her *7* year old daughter calling to tell her tiktok was back. I'd say they're addicted
Seems you struck a nerve. It also seems almost everyone needs something to be angry about these days. I believe in everyone's right to get pissed at whatever they feel inclined to. Though...I imagine finding something to happy about is better.
"I dont personally enjoy this thing, therefore everyone who does enjoy it is absolutely pathetic." Calm down, Lisa. Some people found it quite fun, and informative. Entire communities formed on TT, and some people made careers on it. Have some empathy.
The majority of us aren’t really upset about the loss of an app were more upset about the government doing whatever the fuck they want (they work for us), the loss of people’s incomes, and the loss of education and community. Or did you forget that disabled people find community and help on TikTok?
It’s definitely more about people being worried that the government feels totally okay trampling on our first amendment rights in a blatant political stunt to score Trump points with the masses. But sure, Lisa. People are mad that their silly videos are going away. (Dumbass.)
Of course life will go on without TT. Doesn't it bother you that the government, with no evidence, decided that TT was illegally collecting data in an effort to subvert national security and banned it?
ppl really aren't getting why it matters that the gov thinks they can just do shit like this. Which they'll be able to if ppl like Lisa don't figure it out

What’s wrong with you? You like being restricted & controlled
How odd
It was hilarious.

it banned one specific app, which is owned by a foreign corporation which does not have 1st Amendment protections.
and that app will now fall into worse hands still, so congrats?

This is really just an obscenely stupid take.
Very well could still end up banned.
You clearly are completely uninformed about what Tiktok was and did for millions of Americans. The communities it created, the jobs it created, the lives it saved, the fundraising, the education.
Congrats on the streak.
I still don't think the government should be able to ban Fox News, &, if they tried to, I would say so.
I don't think I will be using tiktok in the future, but what is currently going on points to what we will be experiencing over the next four years.
Please, for the love of God. Listen to that
