I think there is sufficient engagement here to abandon Twitter. I've stopped engaging over there. And really, I understand the FOMO, but we can't see and engage everywhere, so it really comes down to simply making the choice.
It must not be X that wins. I saw where a poster loathes what is going on @ X but has 50K followers and feels he can’t leave. He needs to. Musk has come out of the closet and has shown himself to be literally a modern day Nazi.
I was suppressed worse on threads than I was on the bird (which I got rid of that when Elonia, the first lady, took over) ... I rarely got any traction with anything I was shadowed banned so badly.
This ADHD brain went where the sky is a pretty color and will remain there. It is so peaceful. It took me 11 years to get a little over 500 followers but oh well.
I deactivated my X account with over 3,000 followers, so that's one less for me. Still doing Threads for some reason, and a lot of my actual real life friends are still on Facebook, so...
I’m totally hooked on BlueSky now and at this point only really using Xitter to remember accounts to look for on here.
The ads on Xitter are now absolute crap. I don’t even like the effects of THC and Cheech and Chong hyping their ganja gummies is the least obnoxious ad I see on there.
I had 700 followers on X. Only about 250 were active accounts. The rest were either just dead or garbage (pretty ladies with lots of numbers for user names).
As of now, I have just 68 followers, but I seem to have a lot more interaction with those 68 people. This place is just so much better.
Can somebody build an app that automatically posts in all 3 X, Bluesky and Threads? It’s a bit of work moving back and forth. And how much longer do we have to do this?
It's so terrible. I finally bit the bullet and started doing bluesky for real yesterday, but keeping track of bsky/threads/xitter is awful. Threads really suppresses news though, so it may wind up being a pretty text version of pretty insta pictures and weird AI slop eventually
Aggregating the replies might be a challenge. I wish we could go back to blogs, with all the comments in one place, and RSS feeds. I wish I had tonight's winning numbers. I wish to go to the festival, to the festival...
I used Threads since the day it came out. Ditched Twitter, and just kept hoping Threads would improve. It never did. Made an account here this week and it’s the clear winner.
I created a threads account the week it dropped. I try to stay away from the Zuck but I needed an alternative to twitter. (I haven’t gone on FB in years and I didn’t even have an Instagram account 😂) Hoped it would get better. It got worse. This place is like twitter when it was good, so far
Threads works if you find your niche community and by that I mean an extremely niche community. My husband is a rather successful horror writer and he has a great Threads community, but he doesn’t talk about anything but horror and writing. Literally that’s ALL they discuss
What everyone else said, but also dreadful AI moderation, a CEO (if he's even CEO? I think he was demoted) who refuses to acknowledge extremely loud requests for things like "please don't ban us for saying the word 'cracker' in the context of breakfast"....
My example of FB constantly moving you over to threads when reading a Facebook page… unless it’s open source you’re constantly bombarded with adds.. threads.. content you are not looking for
Mastodon could be good, but it's just too confusing for the average social media consumer. Never tried Threads because it's more shit from Zuck. Bluesky just feels right and I don't need to worry about a megalomaniac that needs to have his ego stroked every five minutes.
It's 'sky - Threads releasing a press release about daily sign-ups, to me, was the confirmation that the USAGE metrics are spiking here as Twitter vacates and the others see engagement decline.
Many people poo-poo'ing B'sky now are likely to be in the same position as those MySpacers in the day
You just earned my follow as my #ADHD brain as been bouncing all over the place just here at BlueSky. So many interesting people! Starter lists! Rabbit holes! (and, of course the scorched earth I left behind at the other sites we will not name.)
I haven't posted over at the other since they put me in X jail for making an inappropriate comment. The same one I had posted for months. Pretty sure they’re targeting obvious liberal accounts.
I tried Post, Mastadon, Spoutible. This one works great for me. I dumped the rest because I hated reading the same thing over and over on all those others.
I had 2500+ followers on Twitter until Elon entered the picture and I gave it up. On threads, I never passed a 1000. I wonder if I’ll ever reach 100 here. Barely any engagement here.

An oldie, but goodie…

But as far as I’m concerned, Bluesky has already won.
You can see the writing on the wall as sports teams and other HIGHLY data attuned orgs make the switch.
In a few months, it will be like "Threads/X who..??"

But I do like it here
