The idea that a nonprofit mission - which exists in the nonprofit sector *because* it is not economically viable - should be sustainable is silly. Nonprofits divert lots of resources explaining how they will *solve* problems that no-one really believes are solvable, but can still be usefully treated

Wouldn't it make sense to do donations like $1mil/year for 10 years or something. Providing stability seems like it should reduce overhead?
Maybe reduce anxiety for the workers not knowing year to year if they can continue?
They seem to have managed to stretch out Mrs. Kroc's massive one time donation reasonably well
She has the right idea. I like what you are doing, here’s my support and I trust you know what to do with it better than I do.
Not every donation is going to land with a sustainable venture and that’s OK.
Any smart nonprofit with a budget of 1 -5 million who gets a million or 2 donated can use it in a strategic way and stretch out funds for 5-10 years.
She is amazing giving away her $.
