coins are temporary magnets, meaning when they come in contact with a permanent magnet they become magnetic (this may be wrong i haven't learnt about this since i was 13)
Everything is magnetic if the field is strong enough. Copper (which is the bulk of coin materials) is very close to water in magnetic permeability, but the other alloys would sit somewhere between iron and water. It's more of a "don't risk it" thing because MRIs are very very powerful.
mri stands for magnetic resonance imaging, you basically go into a giant, very strong magnet. so if you put anything magnetic inside it, the magnetic things try to follow the magnetic lines and go right through any human bits that might be in the way
(non ferromagnetic metals are less dangerous, but magnetic fields are closely linked to electricity so i wouldn't want anything metal in me, tho it might be safe, ive never looked into that specifically)
Man, Seeing the standard Twitter/X[W/E] posts feels like being a neighbor to a deranged person and you see them do stuff like use a taxidermied cat to wash their car and they complain the entrie time that everyone should be doing it this way cause it's the right way to do it.
I seem to remember there was a Reddit thread at one point talking about some doctor who administered an MRI to someone and it turned out they had a butt plug in.
i am so relieved the mri tech was there to state the violent thing that will happen if you eat coins in an mri is indeed a violent thing that will happen if you eat coins in an mri
Pro-tip: If you have a Prince Albert, for the love of whatever deity you believe in, be he hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin, *TAKE IT OUT* before getting an MRI.

He sued the producer, because it had a metal core and wasn't 100% silicone as advertised.
renconmendo,!?
/warning: don't listen to quibblers, they can get you killed
Is that meaningful? Want to risk it?!?
Wild times.
Needless to say, it did not end well.
I’ll drinks coins before an MRI as I please 🥰
I hope this helps with any confusion.
