Feels like political hardball for a lot of Dems just means protecting people you like. This is why you still hear folks saying Franken should have stayed. Beyond being wrong in principle, this kind of thing doesn't actually build Democratic power. This isn't realpolitik; it doesn't hurt the right.

axelrod explicitly has called for it and there’s an obvious push being made in the press for it right now by some of his allies 🤷
I would've liked to see an actual investigation and testimony first. It felt like he was rushed out because Dems wanted to look pure for 2018 midterms. I think it was Jane Mayer who investigated after he left and found major discrepancies in the stories.
We often forget that society is comprised of an ever-shifting moral boundary, and when he did it, that boundary was in a much different place.

Republicans cement power over blind loyalty. Democrats can't accomplish the same because they endlessly navel gaze and back stab at each other. Case in point....
