I am so sorry to feminism but after this weekend I will never be painting my own rooms again. It was not fun. It was not empowering. It was not as easy as the home improvement influencers make it seem. I will be paying someone next time.

As a feminist, I reserve the right to hire whomever I like to complete whatever job needs doing. You go girl! I’m sure your many talents are needed elsewhere. Hand over the paintbrush and go do what you’re meant to do!
Paying someone to do a job does not make you not a feminist. As long as you believe in other women's right to choose to paint a wall themselves or hire someone else to do it for them, bam you're a feminist!!
No way. Be kind to yourself. One of the best pieces of knowledge we can acquire is what is worth our effort and what is worth delegating. Either way the room gets painted. Focus your time and efforts on things you're good at, things you enjoy, things that can't be delegated.
Mt late ex husband did plumbing and heating and everything in-between he taught me how to unclog drains and change out faucets. I service my own furnace. He was going to teach me some basic electrical but I have been shocked before so I hired out for that.
Because it's my job but I get why folks diy
PSA it is cheaper to buy an spray gun (not spray paint) if you want to diy wall painting.
Rollers & brushes suck outside of detailing or working in extremes like I do because you end up wasting paint and spending money on Advil & the dr for muscle tears
Like I'll use a roller in abnormally taller homes or brushes & sponges for intentional texturing depending on what clients want but the main color wall is 99.9% of the time a spray gun to be 100% sure the base is all 1 color and consistent.
Also you're less likely to get the horizontal line mark
There’s nothing unfeminist about paying a professional to do their trade. I happen to find painting a room to be really soothing and satisfying, though!
I did most of my own painting by myself when I bought my house earlier this spring. I thought I knew how to do it from helping my mom with her house, but right after I finished it all, my IG feed started showing me reels from professional house painters who knew way more than I did. lol
Hey, if it isn’t your thing, no shame in hiring someone else to do it well & spare you the stress. You’re still feminist because you have money to pay others for their services & contribute to the economy in a positive way.
Using your economic power to focus on doing the things you actually enjoy doing rather than being forced into labouring on stuff you ‘should’ do…? Spunds pretty darn feminist to me.
When I bought my current house, every room in it was painted this horrible combination of lime green and Massaman curry. It was awful. I painted until I felt I couldn't move another inch. Anyway, it finally got done and I'm with you. Somebody skilled ought to be doing this stuff.😒
Home improvement influencers suck big-time. They don't show ANY of the trials and screw-ups that happen along the way, and don't provide ANY helpful tips. My wife has been working on restoring an old dresser and has gone through so much frustration and self doubt cus it's just not easy.
Painting takes knowledge, practise & the right tools. You could try working with an experienced painter friend who is willing to share their expertise. Having said that, we all have different interests & skills. I know changing my oil is not hard but I have zero interest in doing it. You do you! 💪🏽
I feel this. Many years ago I volunteered to paint the inside of a rental house in exchange for a reduction in rent. By the time I was halfway through I'd have paid double the rent just to get out of it 😂
I painted the whole inside of my last home and the weirdo that I am loved it. After I was done, I painted a night sky mural on one of the walls just for fun.
I am ok. I have a good imagination. My sister is a natural born artist in the 60s her art hung in Ronald Reagans office when he was governor. She has real talent.
My wife free handing a paintbrush along the trim while I desperately try to make my painters tape lines straight and thick enough to accommodate my mess.
My mom and I painted pretty much the entire interior of my first little starter house in a weekend. 0/10 do not recommend. I did learn how to cut in pretty well though.
Feminism is you being able to choose to pay someone to paint your room and not having to ask permission to do so or to paint it by yourself or let your husband do it. It's having the choice, not making the correct one.
I'm a feminist and have never painted a room in my entire life. The few times we've needed something painted we have paid others to do it. (Our favorites where we used to live were two sisters, so we didn't undermine feminism in any way.)
my partner and I have rehabbed our house from the studs over the last 25 years and learned (a) what we are good at, (b) what we actually like doing, and (c) when to call the professionals.
I repainted my entrance hall, living room and kitchen this summer holiday(ceilings and walls), developed tennis elbow. Over 2 months now. 😔 Not painting the rest before it gets better.
Painters tape. Line of tape on any ceiling or trim that's next to what you are painting that you don't want painted. Edging tools also make it easy to paint along those surfaces, and straight edges/scrapers can be a shield in odd spots. Prep work can be a chore, but it is worth it.
Fair. Painting your own home is a quick lesson in mad respect for housepainters. Hire a woman owned business for your next project. Feminism will appreciate it!
But once you finish painting, the satisfaction is soooo good. To look at what you have achieved in X amount of time. Like This is your time, blood and love put in place.
LoL feminism is simply your right to choose your own destiny. If you don't like painting it doesn't make you less of a feminist. Painting is gnarly tho.

You won't need a brush unless somehow you end up working with a super opaque paint or fuck up hard core
But honestly, pretty impressive that you've successfully painted a room.
it's not saving money if you hate the result.
Last time, three years ago, I hired someone to help me. This time my body dget is tighter!
I have a friend, tho, who constantly repaints every room in her house. I like to think she’s making up for me.
I've painted pretty much my whole house, I still keep paper towels handy to wipe off any accidents.
I should take one for the sisterhood and practice anyway.
Wrong!
No matter how many hours you think, it’s way more. Painting sucks.
