My daughter did after a year in her first job this year. She said she was feeling nostalgic and wanted 1 remembering playing on my old PSP while growning up. NGL, I may have shed a proud tear or 2....
I can't believe at the time I hadn't considered getting it just for the video umd playing capabilities. In 2005, the best mobile video player I had was a flash cart for my DS that played heavily compressed video at maybe 12 frames per second when the PSP literally had close to DVD quality on the go 🤣
I have that exact PSP but no camera. It must have seen hundreds of hours of playtime. I used it for everything including shitty internet with the Wipeout Pure internet bug
ohey I got one of those cameras last year or so! Bought a copy of InviZimals from a game shop cause i had never heard of it and they gave me the camera because one is mandatory to play it.
Imo a huge missed opportunity is the PsPortal; if it would stream games over mobile network (for those who don’t care that much about some latency), and even better natively run som PS2 games, I think they would sold tons and tons of it, even if it was more expensive
I still am trying to wrap my head around taking a picture with a telephone. In my mind it's like trying to call someone on an SX70 :)
This shot was from my old Sony Cybershot which won't phone home either -
🧵Portrait orientation does fit the frame of the photograph, BUT I’m happy to see the buttons intend for the camera to be held in the proper, usual orientation, LANDSCAPE.
Sony makes the best gadgets.. then closes off extensions.
I remember reading an article about someone hacking the PSP and using it as a GPS device. Why won't Sony embrace this?
That marvelous thing looks like it can launch a small rocket ship into the atmosphere and your watch looks just like the one that is being held captive at the Russian run jewelry shop in my town. Is that a titanium band? Does it have analog features? What brand and you have a great wristwatch.
Even worse, which was likely the case for you too, it happened when I was a young teenager, so there was no feasible world where I could repair it. Obviously, my parents wouldn't pay for a device that broke at my own fault.
PSP was so ahead of it's time. I will never forget my limited edition Star wars battlefront storm trooper edition getting stolen at school by some rapscallion. Sad day.
Soo so ahead of it’s time. It might look silly now, but at the time the option to view regular movies on it was groundbreaking imo. The UMD disk had such potential, yet another Sony format that was close to amazing but failed in part by factors outside their control (in my limited knowledge atleast)
Truly it was. The PSP predated the modern smartphone, yet had many of the offerings that we’ve come to rely on. Real video playback, a big bright high pixel density (relative to the time) screen, WiFi, an online shop, web browser, 3d graphics, more.

2 even!!
The best (and only I have) handheld I enjoy ^w^
This device is from the last golden era of devices, when things were all designed for landscape mode. Ya know, the objectively better mode.
What's the point of nostalgia if you ruin it by introducing one of the most odious and banal elements of modernity?
I’m glad Sony is still in Gaming Business but I wish they’d give us another PSP
I do wish they had made another pop though. That thing had a browser lol was ahead of its time.

PSP CAMERA
Does it take good quality pictures?
It's almost at the quality of the good ol' gameboy camera and printer.
We'll reach that peak again one day...
The vita was also amazing!
Not like now with TikTok and all THAT crap, 😒!
There are no other rules.
Wordsmithery can be done from the wrong place at the wrong time!
