Twitter has improved since we all left. Now my twitter feed is solely cat pictures and garbage, and there is no risk of confusing one for the other. Before the garbage tried to look like the real content, and it was work to separate them. The real content is here now, so problem solved!
I’m deactivating Twitter. The engagement there is almost overwhelmingly negative and I don’t really have a brand to protect. There are a few accounts I will miss who are unlikely to move, but not enough to keep me there.
I'm not quitting. But I'm putting less into that mess lately. I am still hopelessly clinging to my "social media mission" to combat the plethora of antisemitic ignorance that's pervasive over there.
I still go there because someone has to yell at Nazis; but my situation is different from yours, I don't receive the hellish blowback you do. I'd rather you stick to where you are treated well.
I am staying on twitter for fintwit stuff and the fact that i followed some far right accounts that my feed is now filled with chemtrail talk, vaccine opposers, cabal talkers, etc…..
Most are obviously propagandists, imo, and it’s quite scary how many followers they have.
I hope you're right. I have a hunch they will keep harvesting any little morsels of disdain they can, and spin it as people on BluSky being nasty and unpleasant. Their followers back home eat that stuff for breakfast.
people who use those block lists add nothing to the discussion. blocklists is an ultimate bsky feature to make the most annoying useless people self quarantine
One of the reasons Mastodon failed is because it fractured into echo chambers with power hungry server admins defederating any servers that allowed dissenting opinions.
You can't even post pictures of food without having to add a warning label lest you offend some vegan.
I get where you are coming from, but block lists/starting packs/custom feeds don't reach the same level of fractionalization as separate servers that refuse to talk to each other.
Unless BlueSky can become New Twitter, I think it'll just further the cultural/political divide tbh. Left/Democrat-leaning on one, Right-Republican-leaning the other.
I wish we HAD a decent place for some controlled chaos of a real "digital town square."
I’m on both. Definitely less tolerance here. Discovered you on The Free Press. Enjoy takes from both sides and know that echo chambers are dangerous to all. Thanks for being intellectually honest and open.

Blue Sky sucks.
the system is set up and incentivized for people like us to get hurt, but it’s also difficult to look away from…..

It's the online equivilant of the libertarians who want to have multiple private police departments to compete for people's business.

Just has too many far left numpties that take some effort avoiding

So if I subscribe, do I block them automatically? Or follow?

It's 2016 Twitter all over again!
