It's weird how we always talk about the idea that "if you die in the game, you die in real life," but nobody has ever stopped to ask what happens if you die in real life.

Just like we were all cornered to get smart phones, once we are all forced to get a chip in the brain by whoever, all those possibilities can start happening.
Imagine how tragic it would be to see a series where it's like the if you die in the game you die IRL but one day the mc logs in and only finds out their friend passed away because they're just afk in the game
You drop all your loot and respawn at lvl 1. You can actually reclaim your loot, but since it takes 250,000 - 700,000 hours to get back up to where you were, no one has been able to do it. Insanely punishing game design
If you go to heaven you can pick up at a recent save point. If you go to hell you have to start again from a new install with none of the bugs patched and running at 15 FPS
