Rush, R40, Calgary in 2015. A reverse chronological concert as the stage changed to reflect their earlier shows throughout the concert, culminating with songs from their first album on a stage that looked like a high school gym. Absolutely brilliant.
Dolly Parton. No, really. We saw her “Pure and Simple” tour in 2016. Sat 9th row center on the floor. She played for 2+ hours with one short intermission. Played several different instruments, too. It was amazing.
Low Cut Connie. Once you see them live, you are hooked. They never disappoint and you always leave feeling better about the world. Look them up and give them a listen.
Best show was U2 Zoo TV at Roundhay park 93. But for me best gigs are the intimate ones, John Bramwell playing to less than 50 folks, interacting with each individual like you’re round at his house listening to him jam.
Cool! We had Paul Oakenfold and Stereo MC’s, I guess more for the UK audience. But the huge screens, big heads, Bono’s alter ego’s was a brilliant show. Apparently Roundhay was the biggest paying crowd they’d played to in the UK at the time.
I can honestly say... Jonas Brothers. Especially their most recent tour. Although all their tours since their reunion in 2019 have had excellent openings. Coming down on a floating platform, having a narration by Matthew McConaughey, raising up from smoke....
Pixies…back in the day they were so tight, so enthusiastic, played for so long, and were so loud, by the end I was utterly exhausted. Everyone left looking like they’d had the best shag.
Metallica at commonwealth this year. Distant second was godsmack and I prevail at Rogers last year. The warning at Rogers last month was a the huge surprise and a great live act too
Best show ever? Rik Emmett and Dave Dunlop at Donaleigh’s in Barrie Ontario. An intimate acoustic set in a small setting. It was like Rik was playing in your living room….
Saw Springsteen last night, best concert I’ve ever seen. Been to more than 100 in my life, he blew the rest away. 75 years old doing 3 hours with a band full of incredible musicians. Bucket list act, worth the wait
Somewhere between Pink Floyd, Tool, Metallica, Iron Maiden - maybe Guns'n'Roses, but I was way, WAY too drunk and don't remember anything of that show other than them pulling a couch on stage and jamming out Patience, but then, they pulled a couch on stage and jammed Patience, so maybe?
Top 5 in no particular order
Beyoncé
Willie Nelson
The Weeknd
One Direction (RIP Liam)
Luke Combs
(Slayyyter, 100gecs, Deadmau5 are all honorable mentions tho)
Oh tough question! Love The Stones and Floyd, Elton, but sure didn’t expect Leonard Cohen to top them all. His humble authenticity was so loveable!!! And he was a great “🇨🇦” poet!
Not sure if I can say one group is the *best*. I saw the Melvins last summer and was completely blown away. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats are amazing live. And, despite their age, Metallica still rocks out hard.
That is tough - but saw Prince in my hometown in 2012. It was such a great vibe, great music. So grateful that I was able to see him live, if only once.
The police Ghost in the machine tour .. Vancouver ..completely different than their albums in concert .. choir .. horns .. otherworldly. ..crowd was in awe
Lollapalooza 94: This was one of the first shows I attended solo. My Dad scalped his ticket and told us to have a blast. Beasties were insane. Also saw P-Funk, Tribe Called Quest, Nick Cave, Breeders (Missed Nirvana, SP letdown)
HM: Leonard Cohen @ the DPAC; RHCP, Strokes @ BofA CLT, All MMJ shows
Saw Meshuggah a while ago, saw Gross misconduct / Neck of the Woods / Mvlgrave in Oct, going to see Ardor and Zeal in December, maybe Caravan Palace in Feb.
I saw Frank Sinatra in the 70”s. I was 17 yrs old. Didn’t want to go , thought I was too cool, but my beau at the time bought tickets. It was incredible and unforgettable.
So many to choose from, Corey Taylor, Slipknot, Avenged, Heavens Basement, and the unexpected artists, you just hear in a bar/club. Music, is one of the greatest gifts. (excuse the essay)
Saw Burton Cummings at a 700 seat venue last year. He put on a great show!
Arena venue, Garth Brooks was likely the best. Neil Diamond as well, Kenny and Dolly, Willie, Johnny Cash, Bryan Adams, Colin James on the mountainside - oh hell, I'll run out of room.

But Nine Inch Nails, Pure, and Wardruna were good too.
Best Performance? Cheryl Crow
A close second would be Beck's show in Raleigh for the Odelay tour.
