the other part of the whole Breaking Bad discourse is that Cranston is a great actor and making bad people feel relatable and sympathetic is what great acting does, that's why the dude gets paid in the first place

I always felt that characters like Tony Soprano, Walter White, Dexter, or Don Draper aren't just anti-heroes, they are wishfulfilment: these are men (almost always) who don't have to follow the rules of society, who get to be liars, criminals, even murderers at their hearts' content, & that's why>
people love them. They don't have to take responsibility for their bad actions, and they get to be more or less cool on top of it. They also almost always get away with it.
Probably let the guy pay for my cancer treatment and never go the make meth route. I had it pretty rough after graduating with a young family and never went the make meth route - even though I have a Chem background.
I honestly am wondering if I should give my mother an overdose of codeine right now. She is 93 and was crying to me yesterday, saying she was so tired. It's very easy and comforting to generalize about those people, but there is no such thing. There are only people, one after another.
