im still disappointed learning that there was a pitch for this to be *the entire* movie with Young Erik as the centerpiece kicking the shit out of Nazis
It's so funny that superhero movies aim to capture the fantasy of Incredible Extraordinary Power by doing massive forgettable setpieces of laser blasts when it's way more compelling to use zero special effects to be like What If You Could Kill Three Nazis With Your Mind
also having watched this now for maybe the 40 thousandth time, i always forget that every single one of those times, i think "god damn that pilsner looks fucking wonderful"
It should have only had the Magneto/Xavier thread. The coin thing was great visual poetry. Otherwise, the X-team was entirely filler, to the point that everything was warped into an idiot plot to justify everything outside of the Magneto/Xavier thread. It felt like two different movies.
