@garyseconomics.bsky.social I love what you’re doing to get the message out with economic arguments. Personally I use music to spread similar argument.
Would be honoured if you’d give this new tune a listen 🙏🏻
I looked at the replies to this article. Either the comments are full of bots or people really don’t see the problem with inequality. It will take a lot of work to pull all this wool up from over people’s eyes.
Felon 47 has no interest in anything but his own enrichment. He is aligned with autocrats. He will grab as much of other country’s wealth, land and resources as he can get away with. The advice to toughen up and follow the money is spot on.
I am listening, closely. It does matter because when addressing inequality a whole swath of the British public believes we have a left wing government (ie socialist ) when we clearly don't. They are being persuaded to look to the far right which will only produce far more inequality.
Excellent ending - I have reposted from 19:04 - I think that section really makes the point, and doesn't put people off due to the length. Attention spans being what they are these days, I feel a 5 or 6 minute edited section will have more impact.
Great work Gary!
We can't vote our way out of this situation, we need to get more people to see this and hopefully get behind it. Maybe with enough support and coordination we can do something. But most people just parrot the lies mainstream media tell them (it's immigration, global markets, low productivity etc).
For me it's a pretty simple message. *We should own it* Our health care, our infrastructure, our houses, our media. You name it, we should own it. If we don't the billionaires will and they will charge us exorbitantly for the privilege of using what should be ours.
'Both Labour (UK) and Trump (US) administrations are likely to fail economically despite having different approaches, because neither addresses the fundamental problem of wealth inequality'.
You should put your hat in the political ring… put your money where your mouth is, so to speak. You probably don’t want to, but I think not wanting to, in itself, is why you should.
It would be nice, Jake. He’s previously said that he thinks he can reach people more easily through social media than through politics. I would have thought it was the same thing. To have a charismatic left populist would be nice. A young and less divisive Mick Lynch.
I was born in 76, when UK GDP was at its highest. We'd never had it so good. Literally my whole life I've watched the UK drain down the plughole. I have had to jump from job to job to chase a higher salary just to keep up. I haven't had kids because I couldn't afford to.
Basically it's down to governments committing to appropriately taxing the ultra wealthy, closing taxation loopholes for businesses and reducing the attractiveness of residential property as investment vehicles. But we don't have a hope until the wealthy are eliminated from government influence.
At what point will enough people abandon the 'least-worse-option' mindset - a paradigm that has led to almost non-existent political plurality as well as a false hope politicians who serve the interests of shadowy backers will save us? https://rumble.com/v55299b-scapeboat.html
As good as ever.
I have a question- Throughout history there has been debate over the appropriate gap in earnings between a worker and their boss. If memory serves Plato suggested x7 as a max. Should this type of thinking be part of policy? Is it valid? Wouldn't it bridge those gaps?
Plato advocated for a wealth disparity ratio of 4:1, whereas today's wealth gap is billions of times greater. Have you heard of #limitarianism? If not:

It’d be interesting if you had a chat with Mark Blyth, famous critic of austerity. I recently saw him speak on how inflation benefits some (guess who!)
Another strong video. But my question is how can we do this? As you said, red/blue produce the same outcome. No hint of any party wanting a wealth tax. Honestly - there seems little hope of a move in this direction. How will this play out?
It would be great if you can explain why cutting jobs and aid spending won’t bring the change American people are expecting. Especially challenging the message that is being repeated: there is waste in government and we’ll bring this money to you. Because this is nor true.
My mum was born in 1939, ancient history perhaps but her family agonised over calling out a doctor when her little brother was seriously ill because you had to pay to see the doctor.
We're heading back to those times if we don't do something about it.
Talk to your parents, your grandparents and ask them about how it was. About how in the 50s and 60s the welfare state was a thing of national pride and how the people demanded and won the right to utilise the fruits of their labour for their own benefit.
People born after the NHS was founded in 1948,have no lived experience of what life was like before we had it, people who actually remember what illness & health issues were like prior to that, are in their late 80s or 90s,once it goes it'll be gone forever
We mustn't let their past be our future
Best video yet!
There are a lot of people I follow who have a similar desire to be part of one of the alternatives lying around when the current govt fails. We need a choir of voices. Please talk to George Monbiot, Dale Vince and anyone else that will get you heard by a wider audience.
An informative video but to promote change you must highlight activism. We could learn a lot from your opinions of organisations like @positivemoneyuk.bsky.social

We need a credible social democratic alternative and should look to the Scandinavian nations who have the best systems in place by far.
To see how the society could be organized differently I instead look to history, because it was not always like this
Can be torn down however, if the masses wake up.

there is a petition to tax the rich in Germany, which still needs voice to get into the Bundestag
