That time Whedon was given a feminist award for feminism and thanked all the feminists there by saying we should ditch the word feminist. Which was already a standard fake feminist thing to say, but I guess it got glossed over because everyone was rooting for him so hard, or maybe cringing for him

It reads like a friend of a friend asked Vulture to help fix his reputation but the journalist was scrupulously honest and did a lot of research. He comes out looking WORSE and yet everything is carefully quoted and clearly fact checked and he gets to present his own "Who me?" face.

brave stuff. we're lucky there are still journalists who will take risks to expose such things and provide people with examples of what's going on in the world, even when powerful people don't want you to know, and you probably didn't really want to know either (but your life is better for knowing!)

For three years I researched, edited and produced In Memorium videos for the Transgender Day of Remembrance in Liverpool. It required several full-time weeks of slogging through the details of dozens of murdered trans people and trans suicides.
It was grim. I couldn't do a fourth.

I just read the Gaiman story. I am astonished 1) that this happens so often, in so many similar ways, that 2) he was raised a scientologist, so he learned early how to radically dissociate. my god. such a well written story. i wish someone would write about my "guru" like this. yes, it's a cult.

The drowning is tragic and what sticks out to me is not what 5 year old Joss did because kids disregarding consequences of even the worst action/inaction can often just be a developmental phase.

His response to it as an adult that makes it cold and like oh this guy would still let someone drown
