Actually pretty reassuring to see the right-wing press break for Ukraine and against Trump. They've been churning out such monstrous guff recently it wasn't necessarily clear they would.

Talking of monstrous guff - the guff put out by Carla Sands on @bbcnewsnight last night was real MAGA conspiracy stuff including that Biden started the war in Ukraine. Loud mouthed, foul, person. Typical of what we now see in the governing group of the US.
Give it time. Their columnists will slip out pieces with accompanying slippery headlines touted as 'just asking questions'. They can't escape the gravitational pull that Trump is one of theirs.
My guess is this was all scenario-planned by team Zelenskyy.
- he knew +/- what Trump was likely to say
- he had his reaction planned
- he spoke English fluently, so couldn't be edited out
- he remained calm and reasonable with enough emotion to be sincere
The David v Goliath of Ukraine v Russia has so many similarities to UK v Nazi Germany which explains some differences between most UK right and US right reactions.
It's been quite the u-turn, but even the right-wing media has to recognise the limits of its influence and occasionally go along with broader public sentiment.
Backing two malignant narcissists making like tacky MAGA mafia bosses bullying the international good guy on prime time TV is a perverted grift too far even for the $billionaire boot licking press.
There's still some deranged shit stirring hate baiting 'commentators' licking for Trump though
To be fair, the front page of the Mail did actually seem to be at least slightly scathing of Trump and Vance, accusing them of ganging up on Zelensky. The EXPRESS however…. Not so much.
I think they would if they thought they could get away with it, but public opinion in the UK is strongly in support of Ukraine, so they're running scared.
Don’t count on it persisting. Creeps like Murray show the right-wing’s underlying position. On Ukraine, the right-wing press currently fears the overwhelming UK public opinion against Putin, but their position will likely change as further events draw the UK further into more active support.
Yes, as awful as it was, it might not be a bad thing that this has forced leaders to speak out instead of tiptoeing around the situation as they continue to get further out of control. It's only been 5 weeks, the world can't take 4 years of this.

He's played an absolute blinder.
It may just be expediency but I'll take it.

Brits have that within us, “socially conservative” right even more so - large part of Brexit appeal to them.
We see ourselves in Ukraine. Social conservatives perhaps most of all.
