Really worth watching this. Rep. Bill Keating is clearly feeling a little out of his depth here—not quite sure what to say, not quite sure how to react—but he sees work that needs doing, sees a stand that needs taking, and so he just does it. He just does it. Right on.

Texas Republican Keithself storms out of the meeting he's supposed to be running because a Democrat asked him to treat his colleague Sarah McBride with respect. These people would not last one day as a trans person.

I wish we lived in a world and country where there was no need for me to thank you for being a decent human being, for having empathy and for fighting so strongly for the respect of your colleague, which you so rightly pointed out that she deserves

We need so much more of this human decency and standing up for each other. He could have just let it slide.
But he stood up.
Bill Keating stood tall against small and craven bullies.
The only things big about them are their cowardice, their weakness and their emptiness.
For everyone else.
So for Representative Keating to step out on that ledge... Well, that's what courage is. We need more of it in all quarters of our society.
But it's looking more and more like people are becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable because they know they can't be silent anymore.
Maybe some pearls to clutch while calling for Jeebus to save him.
