And even a ficus plant! A plant ran for a NJ congress seat in 2000 against Rodney Frelinghuysen.
Per Michael Moore "the ficus plant does something that no politician can do: ...it gives us oxygen....I don’t think you can say that about a single member of Congress."
That's what truly makes a great president. And why Trump is so much worse this time. There is no one around Trump who doesn't fit the textbook definition of kakistocrat. No one! The dumbest, greediest, most loathsome and unqualified humans imaginable occupy the White House now.
Joe should have done what he said he was going to do and not run for a second term. He was not fit. I lost a lot of faith in Democrats when I saw that debate performance. People were lying to us about him. We cannot stoop to the level of the Republicans just because we want the White House.
Biden unfortunately had a bad night at the debate. I’d believe that he was sick. His SOTU in March was outstanding as was his NATO press conference in July. I would have voted for him, and I think he would have beaten Trump. No race or gender issues. The alternative was and is godawful.
Biden was unfit. If his handlers would have convinced him to step down whenever his mental decline became apparent, Kamala could have stepped in earlier, and Trump wouldn't have dominated all the news cycles. With an earlier start and full-throated support I think she could have won.
Biden at the SOTU was amazing! At the debate, my guess is that he was sick and his Drs. probably gave him something and he had a bad reaction to it. If you read what he said in the debate, he was lucid. He was aging and slowing down, but his mind was fine. The optics of him slowing down, not good.
I don't want to seem like I keep knocking Biden. But I don't believe it was just an off night at the debate. A Guardian article documents a long series of errors he made prior. Always happened when he was trying to think on his feet. The State of the Union was scripted and read from a teleprompter.
It went largely well but how about referring to Vice President Harris as "Vice President Trump?" And that was only a few days after he refered to Zelenskyy as Putin.
He's a fine man, but you need immense stamina for that office, unless you're going to fake it like Reagan and Trump.
He had moments last year where he seemed a bit zoned, but then he would be really sharp. His delivery and voice could appear weak. He was aging and losing his vigor. Sadly, the timing sucked. He said he would be a one term president. Perhaps after his mid term, there should have been a plan.
I think Trump had spewed so much malice and lies at him of fast that there was nothing Biden could have done, and thought about being tactful and accurate under that kind of pressure, sort of like out congress is doing right now. There was no way to respond to that and look bright. Nobody could
True but he wasn’t a deranged criminal. He has more spine and loyalty on his worst day than Trump ever had on his best. I’d of taken his leadership seriously from a hospital bed compared to Trump.
And who is bearing the consequence of that? All of us, that’s who. Kamala and Doug are rich. They’re going to be fine. It’s us that will be fucked. It was up to us to look out for ourselves. And blaming Kamala for that failure is asinine.
I don't accept that. And the failure was Kamala's. All she had to do was say, "I wouldn't have spent as much," or "We should have reigned in immigration until we had better control of the border," or even "I don't think there was enough of an investigation into the origins of covid." She didn't.
She offered no change in a change election. Sorry that you don't seem to understand that. When 70% of the electorate is saying that the country is going in the wrong direction, not offering change isn't a basis for victory.
Yes!
It also annoys me when people say that most people voted for him. If those who voted for someone other than him and Kamala actually had voted for Kamala, then he wouldn't have won.
I would add that Republicans removed many of the polling stations in democratic districts throughout the country. Gerrymandering/voter suppression is real.
PART. Of those who thought Biden didn't do enough for Palestinians (he didn't), look what you voted for instead. For all you who thought Kamala was too "woke", enjoy life without basic necessities or any health care. ZERO sympathy.
Gen Z stayed home as if they didn't have anything at stake (e.g., climate change, women's rights over their own bodies), and of course, let's call out the misogynists who couldn't vote for a woman, let alone a woman of color.
And all the voters "challenged" and thrown off the rolls for no good reason. @gregpalast.bsky.social covered it all in his documentary Vigilantes Inc. And all the mail-in votes they tossed out. Came to several million.
Not sure they did or do. My brother any many others reminded me not to overestimate the outright stupidity of the average American voter or in this case none voter.
Kamala is a lying corrupt cunt who took a fucking 10 million dollar deal to betray us fuck Kamala she did not challenge a single result even the states she won the exit poll in a fucking landslide.
Anything with the fucking been better than this this fucking guy’s an asshole I wish someone would put him to sleep, he’s nothing but a rushing asset are you fucking kidding me
Joe Biden did a fantastic job. Brought us out of the Covid darkness, rebuilt the economy and moved brilliantly on infrastructure. But he got pilloried.
Not pillorying them. I am a lifelong Independent but I think they are all doing the best they can. And still trying to do the right things. I’m just saying the blame game isn’t helpful. Time to move on to solutions.
Criticism is one thing. Expressing disapproval, discussing whatever is problematic is appropriate. But this unrelenting campaign to destroy is ABSURD. Enough. The assignment is to attack the real enemies.
Sure, I have more smoke for the GQP -- every time. But as a Californian, I'm meh on Newsom. Pelosi is my Rep, and she's been amazing but it is time for her to (as it were) pass the torch. And I think Schumer makes a mistake in expecting a return to normalcy.
Shortsighted view. Biden was good as the manager of the mainstream dem governance machine. He failed miserably at running the bully pulpit and being in the Public eye. So much so he dropped out of the race and fumbled all branches of government to trump. Time to be real
Actually, I think history will judge him much more kindly than that. It is not unusual for the “rescue” leader to not meet the moment as we pass the crisis. (Winston Churchhill for example) Doesn’t diminish Biden’s success. It was nice to feel the calm he brought.
Gas was down to $3 last year and coffee didn’t cost that much here. Don’t know where you live but some states have higher taxes. Btw, inflation was a worldwide issue due to covid. It was dropping last year at a significant rate, although still too high. And meanwhile, our economy was booming.
Presidents don’t have control of everything but should be judged on their responses. I judge Joe Biden as a significant asset. Meanwhile, the market is a mess, prices are rising and consumers are getting shook again. Too much chaos from this administration.
Right? I’m old enough to remember thinking W was the stupidest, most unfit POTUS we could possibly have propped up. And Cheney was the most evil VP imaginable. Needless to say, I have since revised my opinion.
Reagan set us on this road, which led to GWB and then DJT—each worse than the former.
GWB was so bad that he was the best medicine for Reagan's reputation. Then DJT came along and did the same favor for GWB. It's been four decades of GOP decline. The last good one was Eisenhower, before my time.
Should still have it somewhere, now that I think about it. Must find it and get nostalgic for the good ol' days when the Patriot Act was our biggest concern 😂
I seriously got into politics when Dubya and Cheney took us to war with Afghanistan when it was 12 Saudis who attacked the WTC in 2001. And then kept us there for 20+ yrs
Just removing all Republicans from office and letting the Civil Servants do their jobs would have been better. These thick amateurs are embarrassing the US.
Who actually wrote project 2025? The authors of this should have some responsibility for the outcomes of their handy work. I want to hear their motive for creating this dystopian society. Our system worked since King George’s time. Trump was the guy they chose to lead them? Seriously?
This is CRITICAL for RURAL AMERICA (small town USA) the 6K cut in Socical Security staff are closing offices in small town and keeping populated area offices.
He was coming off of two international trips, trying to negotiate hostage released and ceasefire talks, all while on these trips, constant undermining by republicans…a bad debate is a bad debate. What exactly did Trump say besides comparing his golf score with Biden’s?
Make all the excuses you want. When the dems needed a strong public leader to counter trump, biden was vapor. Totally nonexistent. Politicking is part of the job and he failed.
Three people have run against Trump. Only one old man beat him. It’s not like Biden was running marathons and speaking super eloquently when he ran against Trump the first time. Dems took a bad debate performance and shot themselves in the foot with it bc that’s what dems do. Dems failed.
Kamala Harris was a strong candidate. Trump ran on lie after lie after lie. And when you’d point the lies put to his supporters they said he’s just saying that; he doesn’t mean it. You CAN NOT complete with that nor his enablers on FOX, X, Joe Rogan, etc…etc….
The debate was bad but at least Biden attempted to answer the questions. Trump could not answer them & just spewed irrelevant rally lies. The fact is that dems are held to normal standards & the GOP are held to no standards at all. Even now, media are acting like our descent into fascism is normal.
The reason we're here is because the press held Biden to a different standard than Trump. And, Democrats turned on Biden and forced him out. I don't know that he could have beat Trump but it's apparent the US wasn't ready for a woman.
Joe Biden was never once as currupt as one day of trump period! Maga just want a guy that supports everything they are, evil, unjust, rasict, phobic, so that it's okay to be themselves... That is not okay. There are still good people like you and I, who will never bow down for this bs.
I admit I was worried when he gave that crap performance, not that my vote was ever in question. I think Kamala likely made the losses less, though her relative silence now isn't too inspiring. Either way, there is a huge difference between a patriot and a trump...
And the press was already writing about him as if he was already online support. Despite video of him riding his bike, running to helicopters, breathing on his own, etc. Those stories from the NYT about secret doctor visits and Parkinsons sure disappeared, eh?🤪
WTF happened to him? Did you see him on Colbert last night? Weird how he was basically saying, all is fine and we'll be ok with what Trump and friends are doing. Yeah, I guess if you have his $$$$ all is fine, no problems...
Yep. It was just so weird, Colbert was taken aback and kept saying: so everything is just fine? Even stranger was considering the work Amal does.I keep thinking he may have just been playing around as he is a known jokester.
Straight white Americans are responsible for everything that is happening in our country. Their posturing and inability to understand this is how severe racism is in America. Your families voted for this man in numbers after the laundry list of reasons he was incompetent and unqualified.
No honey, bigots are responsible. I know gay MAGAs and straight Progressives who are fighting this with everything they've got. You got the White part right.
Bide 3-10-20 “Look, I view myself as a bridge, not as anything else,” . I guess he was thinking of a bridge like the one that spans Lake Pontchartrain instead of one of the many that cross the Chicago River.
Yeah, I said that at the time, when the party leadership, and the pod boys, and everyone at MSNBC and other legacy media were pounding away at Biden 24/7 100 days before the election.
I’m gonna sound crazy but I have always thought we should have kept Joe Biden in the race. He beat him once. If Trump winning doesn’t show that it doesn’t matter if you are fit to serve to get elected, then I don’t know what does.
As someone with a MAGA relative, this is 180 degrees opposite their view that someone who looks strong and acts macho is preferable no matter how stupid, corrupt or inept he is.
And where has Clooney been for the last 6 weeks? Is he leading protests? Is he raising money for CREW or the ACLU? I haven't even seen a post on social media. What a loser.
That damn stutter, and the bad gait was too much for people to deal with even though their insulin was $35.00. Insurance,SS Medicare and Medicaid were just too secure for them.
MSM did this, and late night shows, Jon Stewart and others for a laugh and convinced the youth that Biden was a joke, while never saying anything about the real problem of having the felon in office again…even today they like making fun of Biden, give it fking break, it’s not funny..we’re in FAFO MODE
Some Dems really fucked up with pressing him to resign. By the time they did it, it was too late. In all fairness to Kamala, she (or anyone else) had not enough time to make their case. The primary was the time to pull that shit.
Tell that to the 77 million Americans who, with the help of mainstream media, podcasters, and other degenerates, seemed indifferent to the destruction of American democracy and the rule of law!
Conway could take a vow of poverty & work for the most suffering of us for the rest of his life & it still wouldn’t pay for what he did to hurt Bill Clinton to the point that George W. Bush almost got as many votes as Al Gore. Imagine if we had a pro-environment President in 2001! Conway, STFU!
My point is we’ve only had one halfway decent party since Nixon & Thurmond made a deal resulting in racists mostly moving from D to R. Rich Republicans should’ve been thrilled with Clinton’s centrism. Maybe capitalism was gonna lead here anyway but I don’t want to have to listen to Conway as we die.
You had every right to point out how Clinton hurt himself more than Conway hurt him. Lying politicians are one kind of bad. Sophistic lawyers doing the bidding of evil are a whole other kind. I left Twitter to avoid people like Conway, but I regret wasting my time on him & moreso being rude to you.
More and more I think that our representatives should not be elected, but selected randomly among the people they would represent, you know, like jury duty. On any level and office. Pretty sure the outcomes would be generally better.
Because of the quantity of our elected leaders 🙂
But consider this, no parties, no campaigns, no billions spent, no disinformation campaigns, no hard-core ideologies, people working together to solve problems.
I think, when put in such position by duty, most people would wanna do a good job.
I am referring to the MAGA Ion the street who are dumb and proud of it. You want to risk them being in offices of power. What is there now is bad enough. A whole Congress of MTGs and Boeberts is the stuff of nightmares.
I think I'll forever be angry at Biden for running for a second term. He could have been the most consequential single-term president in history, and instead we have this.

This is exactly what the orange clown should start experiencing very soon.

Maga formed from a community of hate while most of us believe in independence.
Trump grabbed right wingers by their hate & they like it.
The left needs to form a community of social ethics to counter the right, & not just for elections.
That’s 💩. We knew Trump would be worse - far worse. And yet people still chose him. That’s not her fault. That’s theirs.
It also annoys me when people say that most people voted for him. If those who voted for someone other than him and Kamala actually had voted for Kamala, then he wouldn't have won.
Doesn’t explain 90 million non voters though.
So, it does explain part of the 90 million.
And heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere we are...
Dare ya to listen to elons son before the election and not have your jaw drop in shock

I wish him nothing but puppies and kittens for the rest of his days.
Nobody sees it in Vance. Nobody is going to stick their necks out for Vance. Vance will be opposed.
Those in small town USA will need to be setup online or drive miles to wait in longer lines

At no time was Joe ever trying to deliberately fuck over the country
Despite being down 77 millions brains on which to feed.
Plus, it's very pretty.
I guess most of the country is lintless.
A chicken is net neutral.
Let's not fight because I was being a facetious dick. I promise, it isn't worthwhile. 💙😅

I'm not going to argue back and forth here.
I'm glad his strength and compassion were finally appreciated (by some).

Does George even post this, much less read it?
