you ever reading a book and find yourself thinking about something else but still reading and realise you haven't heard a word you've said for half a page?

The number of people in this thread claiming everyone does that.... uh, yeah, everyone pees too, but if it happens every five minutes you should really get that checked out. Please remember that for many of us, this is a symptom of our disability, not a quirk or momentary lapse.
Yep. What's worse is going back in the recording you made in class and zoning out on what was being said at the exact same time and having to backup the recording like 8 times to figure it out. Just to find out it wasn't important anyways.
The only multitasking I can do is use my feet and hands at the same time. Oh, anything physical. I cannot think about more than 25% of something at a time.
Yes,everyone does this. I always teach my students that to understand what you read, you must go back to the last part you remember and begin to reread the daydreamed part of the text again.
This is why I can’t do audiobooks. My mind wanders and finding my place again is difficult, specially when I first tried audiobooks, which was on cassette tape while driving.
Yeah, sometimes I find it annoyingly difficult to turn off my brain, so I'm just thinking about other things, and then realise I've "read" several pages with no clue what just happened.
Doesn't happen often if the book has a glossy cover, short paragraphs and a driving, all-show/no-tell narrative. If the book has a matte cover, long paragraphs and positively dawdles over minute detail, well, yeah, the mind can go for a bit of a wander.
I don't get it. Or maybe I do. Hmmm. Ponder. I guess it is just my generic information relay voice, but it still reads to me....hmmm ok its more of a realization. Thats fuckin' weird. Are you some kind of weirdo or have you cyborginated me without my knowledge? Its either one or both.
My wife says weirdo, as she and apparently most people have an inner voice when reading. For me, it's like the words go straight into my consciousness. So I read quickly. I also see typos & spelling mistakes as I read, thanks to years of editing magazines, but 'no inner voice' has been forever. 🤷♂️
This happens when I write. Sometimes I'll be a sentence ahead, jumps around everywhere and frustrates the fuck outta people. Like, I'll leave one out. If I had Bob Ross' job, thered be patches of white canvas around. Good thing no one could ever replace ol Bob. Happy. Accidents. Everywhere. Better.
Huh. I can go nuts, short of correcting spelling and higher-level "properly" formed and punctuated sentences, I have not the knowledge of fucking why ; is needed, nor |. ~, `? Both have places for me.
I get in troubles for it. My friends get it, its like a runaway diesel, where the thing just tries to wind itself up faster and faster till it blows.
Some people mad. Some people confused. Most people just put-off in general.
I may be extrememly blunt and even percieved as mean or angry.
Yes. And then I/you/people should reread. Attention drifting is normal and something that has been a part of reading since reading has existed. It teaches patience, discipline, and a capacity to reboot.
You have no idea what roams in my head like a highspeed rail system...
