Los Angeles also didn't burn to the ground. I've seen people posting "I've always wanted to visit Los Angeles and now it's too late". It is a horrific tragedy and so many people lost their homes. But there are 3,000,000 structures in LA county and 10,000 of them burned. City still here

We got a taste of this in 2024 with the North Carolina floods, people who get their news from conservative media - maybe even from mainstream media, the campaign was so effective - believe there was a negligible federal response to the disaster, or even the feds deliberate sabotaged the response.

And it wasn't just a tourist attraction: I live in a neighborhood 10 minutes away, and I literally went downtown just to eat there sometimes. But I never ever go downtown to go to hotels.

I would drive from Seattle to LA through Portland and people swore it was burned to the ground. Bad blocks? Sure. Not at all what was characterized by media.
