Might also be talking about my son; he was born 12 weeks early at 2 lbs 7 oz, so he automatically qualified for SSI simply because he was less than 2.5 lbs. SSI essentially covered all his medical expenses that insurance didn't cover so we had no out-of-pocket expenses. That was 12 yrs ago.

We were much less financially stable at the time, and that SSI kept us out of bankruptcy because there was a lot insurance didn't cover. That's not a "loan". That's a medical necessity that was extremely helpful for us. I can guarantee other families he's talking about are in similar position

Someone told me that he is talking about Small Business loans - the article explains. She had experience with these loans - they usually use a small business id which if it was off by a digit could easily be a child's SSN. Elon is just spreading disinformation.

Both of mine died when I was 14 in the 70s. I got booted from my home because my sibs wanted to sell it. I ended up in an apartment paying rent and utilities food at 15. If I didn’t have social security benefits who knows what would have happened.

My father passed when I was 13. He was 45. He paid into SS since he started working at age 16. He was never going to collect a dime of that money in his old age. Kids are entitled to support that their parents paid into and will never collect for themselves
