especially since the venn diagram of “kids who read the most” and “kids who were almost never allowed to go to pizza hut” is basically a circle lol. getting to eat the Forbidden Junk Food as a reward for working out your brain was America at its best
When I was in first grade, I liked a story so much I read ahead. I got in trouble. I have never forgotten that. I don't tell people how to read. I'm just happy when they do.
What?!! Wow, that is ridiculous. Why does everything have to be an issue? I say let people read how fast or slow as they like. On another note, I miss getting those pizzas, which makes me wish I could get rewarded with a pizza every time I finish a book... which sometimes takes me months to finish.
Uk here, is this a US thing? I never got rewarded for reading, I would have got so much pizza! I read so much and so quickly my parents couldn't keep up, and instead bought my non reading brother books. So I read those and then read my Grandma's crime from the library after she'd read them
Like, so few people in this country read books as it is and that's actually a very bad thing! Let's try not to shrink that number through bullshit rules so we can tell ourselves how much better we are than everyone else.
Reading too fast has never been my problem, waiting a solid minute for my partner to catch up…that’s my struggle! I gave up and I read things aloud nowadays! (And I love that I make this accommodation)
I got so many pizzas I now have to read (and write) fanfiction because I read quickly enough I have to shell out my hourly wage for a book I'll finish in the same amount of time. it's not worth it most of the time

Also, those pizza coupons were gold! I tore through books to get that greasy pizza.
(But is this seriously the new issue people are having?)
(Yes, Joe Hill brought it up, I believe)
There is no pizza at stake! (At least not that I'm aware of)
I do still love those personal pizzas.
Does anyone else remember when pizza hut was practically fine dining, and THE place to be on a Feiday night?
