Lost a good family friend in 1994. If only he’d held on a little while longer until the better treatments were available. His family decided to tell people he’d died of cancer instead of acknowledging it was AIDS.

Everyone should click through to the instagram post by Matt Bernstein. The comments are full of memorials to dead loved ones and posts by queer elders. So many lives lost, needlessly, because our president - who had been personal friends with many LGBT people - let them die.

Drove this morning to the country cemetery where my husband’s favorite cousin was buried. He died of AIDS in 1993 but is still missed.
