I’m no expert but I don’t think people are going to remember to put their phones on lockdown mode while being stopped by the police. You’re just going to panic and forget. I think it’s safer to keep biometrics turned off

took a bit of digging but lockdown mode (Google Pixel's version of disabling biometric logins) is activated by long pressing power & volume up, then hitting the lockdown button. In case any other Pixel owners read the article and thought, "bugger, this doesn't work for me".
