It takes time when rally information is suppressed. Another problem is many still hope our politicians will start doing "something." Unfortunately they all benefit from the grift (constant campaigning, lobbyist perks, insider trading)so have no interest in implementing the reforms we need.
Well studies have shown it takes about 3.5% of the population in the streets to get things done with regime change. It's not impossible but the longer it goes the harder it gets.
I'm hoping it grows as the jobs disappear. Hard to protest when you need to keep your job for health insurance... Open secret that is one reason Americans don't have universal healthcare, keeps them in line.
Americans are way too comfy about this. Look at South Korea, Brazil, Georgia and France many times thier elected governments got out of hand. Get out and march until you fix this.
There are protests every day in all different parts of the country and that makes citizens aware. The lawyers are who are doing most of the work. There are more lawsuits than I can count. That’s what’s making the difference.
My daughter and I drove to the capital yesterday in blood red Lincoln Nebraska. 9°+windchill, and we need thousands, not hundreds. I don't care how cold it is!
You're right. We need people. Our representatives can sit this out. They're worthless.
If we don't have the spine to general strike on principal (we don't), we'll do it out of self preservation. We are selfish and short-sighted like that. Not trying to put this shit on the world, but we are getting locked down harder and harder and no one seems to notice.
We are planning a general strike @generalstrikeus.bsky.social in order to save our democracy! I’m definitely doing it out of self preservation, but the more I learn about strikes and labor movements the more I want to do it on principle as well.
We've tried that (last admin) to no resolution. Trying it nationwide now. The frightening undercurrent it martial law, which this fuck want to enact desperately.
People in or going to the US by flight noping out will matter almost as much. CAN flipping us off helps! I fucking hate this, he is nuts.
It's not going to happen. 70% of the country agrees with Trump, and most of the rest are at-will employees whose healthcare is contingent on keeping a job.
whoever doesn't vote, effectively votes for the winner (they think both candidates are equally acceptable). Adding the non-voters and the people who voted R gives us about 65 or 70% of people who at least don't mind Trumpism
I don't think it's fair, or logical, to assume that all non voters are for the winner. No one can possibly know the reasons why every non-voter didn't vote. Were the helpful, no. But we can't make assumptions about their beliefs or intentions. Nor can we make this kind of statistical extrapolation.
