I probably got several for a penny from the Columbia record and tape club 😂 mid/late 80s. Was into B-52s, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, Phil Collins, Duran Duran, Stray Cats, Janet Jackson, Pogues, Prince, Night Ranger, G’n’R, Garth Brooks, Madonna, De La Soul, I had 100 cassettes by 1990 😂
It's the first ANYTHING I can remember buying with my own money other than candy at 7/11. I was 8 and the title track lyrics freaked me out. #StabItWithTheirSteelyKnives
13 years old. Bought from Revolver Records on the Triangle, top of Park Steet, Bristol, UK. Coolest record shop in town. The approval of my purchase by the guy behind the counter made my day.
this was the first album i bought with my hard-earned law mowing money. Summer between 5th and 6th grade. Despite this glaring evidence, the parents claimed to be "shocked" when I came out several years later🤣
I bought CrazySexyCool by TLC on CD when I was about 12. I only started collecting Vinyl a couple years ago but the first one I bought was Maggot Brain by Funkadelic 👍
Bought Something/Anything? In 7th grade and promptly wore it out, lol. I no longer have that particular copy but own several others, including original pressings and remastered versions (some of which suck so you need to be careful).
First purchase I ever made with my first check from the Army. I had to wait another 8 weeks before I could actually listen to it, so in the meantime, I'd just stare at the cover and read all of its liner notes.
My first single was 19th nervous breakdown by the rolling stones. You'll notice that it's missing a piece. I played it so often my mother tried breaking it. I kept it anyway.
It was a compilation of hits from the 1960s that I bought from the tee-vee in the early 70s. Think: "It's my party," "Itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini..." You get the picture. I was probably 11 or 12.
I already owned other albums that had been bought for me, but this was joint first to be purchased with my own damn money. I bought ‘Parallel Lines’ on the same day and the same trip to WH Smith’s. But I’m pretty certain I picked this one out first!

It was also my first CD purchase!
