I thought Diana's mother here was Carolyn Jones so I went to look it up. I was right but I also learned that Diana's mother was also played by Beatrice Straight (Poltergeist) and—get this—Cloris Leachman! The 1970s were weird.
Yup. Cloris played her in the pilot movie. Carolyn took over in the first season because Cloris was doing Phyllis. And then Beatrice took over in season 2 when Carolyn wasn't available (I think she was doing an Addams Family movie).
I remember Debra Winger pretending to get mad at David Letterman for not letting the Wonder Girl thing go during the interview.
She ripped off her dress to reveal the WG costume and exited running up the aisle of the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Wish I could find the clip!
The people’s Wonder Woman is the only good superhero. She just wants to beat all the fascists so she can go spin into fun outfits and vibe with the girlies on magic lesbian island. No cop energy, just the good life
This doesn't really surprise me as the generations currently alive weren't very far removed from WWII. Now we're at the point where very few from that time are alive all the while we're living in a disinformation paradise.
Of course they did; WW2 was within living memory for anyone over 35 who watched this episode. My BFF’s dad had literally fought in the war. You were supposed to instantly agree with Diana here because everyone knew a simple formula: Nazi=Bad Guy. Time passes and people forget “common knowledge.”
Yes, Steve Trevor would fall into a chicken coop or something and Wonder Woman would go wail on the Nazis and then go save him. It was a remarkable show.

My absolute favorite TV as a girl.
And at no time was she ever referred to by name.
Lucky Lynda.

(Someone has already pointed out it’s Carolyn Jones but it looks like JK too)
