We may be in a new age but the solutions remain the same.
1) communicate with like-minded voters to enact legislation.
2) communicate with like-minded consumers to boycott offensive products and services.
When there's enough of a financial disincentive, they will stop what they're doing
Having just run into this, my immediate question is, how can they monitor your sex life? Unless you typically are making love in the back seat of your car?
Really considering a motorcycle for my next long distance vehicle; no it's as comfortable, yes it's statistically suicide, but at least you can still buy just an engine and some wheels.
Some apps could be gathering way more data than they're supposed to. I don't know for sure about these apps in particular, but I do know that over-gathering data via smart phone apps is not unheard of (TikTok).
Like secretly recording audio and using one's camera, etc.
While my (difficult at times on a practical level) determination to not own a car stems from environmental, financial, and batshit crazy local drivers factors, looks like I need to add privacy to the list.
I sure as heck won’t be buying one of these anytime soon.
If your car pulls up to a Corner of Negotiable Affection, drives to a hotel, then back to the Corner in 45 minutes, inferences can be made. Also, leave your phone at home.
You can verify the sexual activity thing yourself here.
Is it somehow logging when you fuck in the car??? Was this some lawyer just absolutely going hog wild putting everything in there just in case they accidentally collected it??
Lawyers going hog wild to cover every possible liability angle is their thing. Every social media platform has a lengthy paragraph about what rights you license to them in perpetuity for your content. Same thing here.
The world needs a GDPResque Right to be Forgotten
Husband is nerding out and explaining things to me - our car (Mini) reports all sorts of stuff back to base in real time, including things about how many people are in the car etc. So it could feasibly be recording if two people are sitting in one seat, or seats reclined etc.
But.. that kind of sensor just doesnt appear out of the ocean like Venus in a shell? It's disturbing all along the process, people:
- Determined a need for data
- Green lit collecting data
- Designed sensors
- Figured out data patterns for this activity
- Testing??
- Found the data useful enough??
I can’t reconcile this with the fact that my 2017 car rings the seatbelt alarm because it can’t tell whether it’s a person or 2 L of milk in the passenger seat
GodDAMN but do I miss my 1970s Chevy Nova deathmobile. I mean, have you TRIED to [redacted] in a modern car? There's just no room. You've got to be Cirque du Soleil levels of contortionist to do anything.

Keep focused, damn it!
- Brave New World for the meek and subservient
- 1984 for the rest of us (people who have individual personalities)
2) fuck in it
3) return it from where it was lifted
4) profit! (ok not profit but clean getaway? that)
