hey i got some powdered milk because i drink milk a lot and am worried about supply stuff. does anyone have powdered milk tips. i was thinking of mixing it in with spicy tea?

Yes, it can.

Especially if the banks cramp up the way they did in 08 and/or something fucks with the trucking routes like COVID did. All you have to do is make it so the truckers don't get paid, and our grocery store stock goes bye bye.

Dairy is one thing where the US allows only a tiny amount of imports and almost all of them are in butter and cheese products. I think US dairy is also fairly well spread and so much of it is well away from current targets of deportation raids. Milk is likely to stay on shelves for a while.

Eggs certainly, milk is pretty unlikely given how local the supply is.

Anything that requires immigrant labor (so a fuck ton of food and vegetables) is likely to have a bad time.

that’s said it depends how the immigrant crackdown is conducted, he may well focus on blue big cities and not red rural areas.

The entire American supply chain runs on shipments that are fine-tuned and calculated to be just large enough getting to the right places just in time to serve the needs of a number of people that was estimated in advance. It's REALLY easy for the whole thing to go sideways when things go wrong.

There are, but Bird Flu has been killing them. I work for a genetics company that breeds birds that get sold to the production lines down the line to eventually breed the birds people eat. We have really tight biosecurity, I don't work on a farm and I'm not allowed to even be near other birds.

One of the US's biggest issues is just-in-time supply chain management. Stores don't keep a big stock anymore because they can use the room for floor space or parking to just get it all shipped in. This also makes them more susceptible to supply shortages.

Certainly. Our supply lines run on such small margins that people simply hoarding an item like toilet paper caused widespread panic and no supply. Add in a population that doesn't know how to cook, the feds freezing low income programs that keep underpaid people fed and the collapse of mega farms

I did just buy a dozen in a relatively low cost of living area (30-40% below mean) and they were 5 USD a dozen.

Pre-2020 they were as low as under a dollar per dozen. Sometimes as low as 0.26.
