my chill gardening afternoon interrupted by weeding out the MAHA: skipping over the seedling transplant advice from someone promoting raw milk on their blog.... not buying some little pots from a farm store also pushing seed oil as a cure-all...

Like random advice to treat or prevent measles by taking an unspecified dose of Vitamin A, which in high doses can have serious side effects, some permanent. MAHA is trying to ruin our Spring.
Just to clarify, these people would definitely NOT be saying seed oil is a cure for anything, they think it kills you. Also you can just choose the strongest looking seedling and snip off the others instead of torturing them with the separating process.
i mean, you can let them get pretty big and then split them when you pot them up in a few weeks? but unless you’re growing large quantities, probably not that important, depends on your germination rate really
i'm two weeks in, and about half the flowers i started have just got some roots coming out the bottom of the cells + have had true leaves for a few days... ofc there's others that did nothing while these guys are like, 3 seedlings per cell
my embarrassing confession is i don’t know what seed oils are (just, like, oils…from seeds?) why anti-vax bigots manosphere dweebs hate them &, at this point, i’m not *afraid* to ask, i’m just not going to. i can not know one thing & just trust that it’s somehow racist, misogynistic nonsense, right?
I've almost been poisoned twice with avocado oil because people keep referring to it as generic vegetable oil so I'm the weirdo who wants people to get specific but only to avoid an allergic reaction
You know we’re in the Upside Down when people are trying to say eating saturated animal fat is better for you than mono/polyunsat fats like seed oils. These mfers are gonna give themselves heart attacks at 50.
Yeah I'm not sure what to believe and people who love RFK Jr are making it harder. Historically a lot of cultures used sesame oil or types of lard so I wonder if our aversion to fat in cooking played a role in all this bullshit
Conspiracy thinking is plugged into one grand funnel that passes from fringe theories like perpetual motion, Bigfoot and colloidal silver, through anti-Blackness and transphobia, and always bottoming out with the worst antisemitism imaginable. It's like a global anti-church that poisons the Internet
I think it's largely just grift. Think the Liver King type stuff, and other "ancestral diets". They relate meat to masculinity and vegetables to being immasculine, and it sounds stupid but watch any of them react to being offered a salad. But they'll buy into stupid mandiets and "natural" etc.
scream-singing “faith of the heart” at a picture of red-faced rfk looking like human jerky and chugging a bottle of grapeseed oil as my poor wife looks on confused and concerned.
Iirc it’s a misreading of the chemical process used to extract a lot of oils including canola and other seed oils (hexane process). Fusion of the crunchy “all chemicals are bad” with manosphere “meat products only”
I am unpleasantly reminded of the couple of times I have gone into tea shops or gluten-free restaurants; only to find that they were run by white supremacist "militia" types.
