Arguments in this case today went horribly for the school board. The six Republican-appointed justices sound eager to craft a maximalist decision that effectively gives religious parents a sweeping new constitutional right to veto LGBTQ materials (and much more) in public school curricula.

Right now, the Supreme Court is hearing Mahmoud v. Taylor, a case engineered to give religious parents a veto over curricula at public schools, especially LGBTQ materials.

The SCOTUS says my religion is not valid ?
The option they're seeking is to muzzle and remove all evidence of queer people from public school.
They're in a group setting with more than five people. Chances are one of them is queer, or queer-aligned. Or has a queer friend, coworker, teacher, etc.
You can't opt out of that.
They're trying to make LGBTQ+ teachers and peers go back into the closet.
do non-religious and non-Christian parents have a similar right to veto Christian materials in their school libraries, or does “religious freedom” only belong to them
Or is our baptismal covenant to strive for justice and peace among all
people, and respect the dignity of every human
being less protected than the hatreds of the reactionary.
This is a case because some damnable fools want the benefits of DMV schools without the educated, curious, and pluralistic culture that created them.
It would help if human beings weren't property until their 18th birthday in this country.

I would like to see Alito’s face when that happens (from a sickbed, with any luck).
This is horrifying.

I don't want them exposed that more complex math exists in the world.
(alternatively, we could get a Frankendecision where the 6 conservatives rule in the same way but with multiple separate justifications)
