you ran a kickstarter and planned for certain shipping costs? fuck you, no more de minimis, either bankrupt yourself fulfilling orders or tell people their shipping costs went way up after the fact, and good luck ever running another one

Would projects still be viable not selling to the US market, or is it toast toast?
Whoever could've seen that coming?
Everyone else- including Asmodee- is fucked.
(Asmodee might have been wiped out regardless of tariffs, because Embrasure dumped all the debt on them and spun them out)
any kickstarter manufacturing anything in China is done, finished, vaporized
and you can't even stand up anything here because good luck with building materials for the factory
At every turn, they hear stuff like 'the last person in the US who could do
At least printing is something we could CONCEIVABLY start up again here, unless shirt blanks, but I still think people will either have to sell printable editions or digital versions or... just not.
My sincerest sympathies to indie clothing manufacturers in all this.
But not the GOP vendors who are only now finding out they were using Chinese produced products to stick their labels on.
This was a problem with the tariffs last time, local printing costs went up in many cases (and the pandemic made it worse)
It just took me a year to get electrical panels for a high school gymnasium facility, and people think we're going to magically wish all these manufacturing plants into existence?
One firm out of the four we solicited - everybody else was like "eh - we'll get to you when we get to you".
It's not just electrical stuff - we had almost the same lead time on chillers - key pieces of equipment in a lot of large scale HVAC systems.
And about how difficult it is to disable a transformer or a transmission line if you know what you are doing (not very)
And about how dependent a lot of places in the US are on electricity to be simply survivable in summer
And also that increased shipping rates can completely tank a project or company, and destroy trust in the future 🙃
don’t blame the creators, not their fault, blame the asshole in the White House
