think of how awful ICE is right now and how much harm they’re doing to our communities
now literally 15x their budget
instead of a taco truck on every corner we’re getting an ICE van
it’s going to be an absolute nightmare

If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:
- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

They’re forcing a crisis.
Why would they change? Religious fundamentalists haven't let over 2 millennia of failed prophecies of Armageddon stop them from believing so far.
But... Can they even spend this?
I assume that's largely what ICE actually consists of?
I hope.
One with a sufficiently quirky mind might think "15x more to glitter! 15x more to stink bomb! Even 15x more to sue!"
It's still shit, though.
I'd say the next wave of ICE hirings is gonna be dangerous too, cos they will KNOW what they're signing up for, and will revel in it.
What about the things that would benefit all of us?
I think the budget would probably go a lot more heavily toward surveillance state shit, which is probably worse
The budget alone would make ICE a larger military force than France, a top 10 military power.

I think people should hold them accountable for what they intend to do, which to be clear is a fucking shoah. But I don’t think they’re going to succeed
