Exactly. Community notes is just rule by majority. Throw in troll bots and you are making the propaganda machine even more efficient. It literally gives greater power to bad actors.

It makes a certain sort of sense. Facebook users tend to already accept "social proof" as a valid way of navigating knowledge.

Literally, the place is overrun by people who say that believing in something makes it true.

This phenomenon isn't specific to Facebook at all. Let's not let the rest of us off the hook and blame Facebook for something that's happened since prehistory.

That's true- Facebook just enabled it on a whole new level. But also- in sort of a weird fratboy "go eff yourself" way while also attempting to maintain a curious air of moral superiority about the whole endeavor.

Has anyone noticed the prevalence of A.I.-generated results showing up at the top of Facebook comment threads and Google searches? They want people to treat A.I. as the “summarized” answer and ignore everything else. Kind of like a Rotten Tomatoes percentage.

I hate them!! I spent hours trying to figure out how to turn off the ai in search, to no avail. I want to think for myself!!! I’m spending less n less time on FB anyway. Sadly so many who teach use FB groups...

Okay so say Facebook has one person in charge of fact checking, so we got one person that says that isn't true.

We're still in the position where someone said that isn't true

I like community notes, different people use different sources. You can use them to come to your own conclusion

I've seen so many incorrect AI answers that I just ignore them completely.

Google and Bing are no better.
