When the markets for exporting soy beans and corn are gone, they aren’t coming back. Farmers have worked to establish export markets since 1971. All that is now gone.
Most farmers are getting exactly what they voted for.
To hell with them.
For the farmers - and yes, there are a few - who didn't vote for this, they don't deserve this. Find them and help.
And IF the Trump-voting farmers truly regret their vote, help them too.
No doubt those rugged individualists will just tough out the hardship without begging for handouts from the despised Federal government. They might need to wait a year or three to buy some new pearly button shirts.
For the first since anyone can remember, farmers crops will rot in the fields. There's less immigrant labor to do the harvest, farmers are priced out of foreign markets. Fertilizers have massively increased, costs will go up and up!Rural towns will be decimated. Golf anyone?
When 77% of the voters in the 444 most farm dependent counties in the country cast their ballots for Trump, what did they expect? He screwed them over before (and then bailed them out.) So it’s happening again but millions of others need support now - layed off workers for example
Donald have farmers &28 billion to start with, but the real total is $100 billion. And that money came from the US tax payer. Donald is going to pay them off again. Admin has already started visiting Midwest
Oh please. I can 100% guarantee that Trump will provide some farmer welfare like he did the last time. And all these white farmers will clap like idiotic seals for Trump again. Gimme a break.
As a city resident my entire life, I am very concerned for our farmers besieged for a 2nd time by Trump tarrifs. At the same time, when we bail out the farmers with emergency grants to offset the loss of USAid or China grain, chicken & pork sales when will DOGE call the original policy waste of $'s.
They should not get any bailouts (again). These people keep voting for Republicans, it's long past time to learn a lesson.
Besides, that would be socialism, right conservatives?
Interesting that OPEC+ decided to increase production on Thursday. Do I think OPEC+ is bullish on demand? No. But maybe they are trying to send a message to Trump about leverage? Sub-$60 oil is not good for US oil producers.
I have always had such massive feelings of protection toward our farmers. Why should they lose anything in this bullshit trade war and not fall under the protection of a well defined policy or regulation since it is the farmer that feeds Americans......
forgive if I laugh when they are on TV talking about losing the family farm and they are crying and saying I'm all for this and that but this isn't the way to do it
Well he did it to them the first time around – then bailed them out to the tune of approx. 30 Billion taxpayer- so why did they think/expect anything different this time? And yet, they voted him in again... you reap what you sow...
