The craziest thing about watching Severance is it doesn't feel like a dystopian future.
It feels like the dystopian present.
It feels like the dystopian present.

And I wonder if that's to keep the innies aware of what is possible with tech
Remember the tunnels? Stupid.
All cars with green energy? Lie.
Proving solar power for green energy for free? Lie.
Getting to Mars? Lie.
Founding Tesla? Lie.
Fucker.
It is EERILY accurate is ways that are ENTIRELY uncomfortable to me quite often.
Reality is too much.
I don’t feel it reflects current reality whatsoever
But the beautifl thing is we can have different views
It so well made and written etc
Totally agree
But depending on your age, I took the setting to be a version of 60s and 70s corporate culture
Which was very
“company man” kinda thing
But I agree with you☮️
Like, "who would just shut down a part of their brain for a job-oh. Right."
"Come on, who would just blindly accept a paycheck w/out knowing what their work is actually for-oh. Right."
And on and on lol
For instance if you work for Mars candy, you know that.
I think the mysteries & the storytelling as fascinating, but to each their own.
It's a show u can't watch while doing anything else. You have to pay attention for it to come together
Find your protests! Make your posters! Take some friends! WE CAN DO THIS!!! It takes all of us! "If we don't fight like hell, we won't have a country anymore"! Sounds eerily familiar doesn't it! TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM THE CORRUPT OLIGARCHS NOW!

I'd probably go all in for a version of me that could handle working and liked to exercise
Says a lot about how humans operate
I'm excited other ppl caught on cuz I was preaching the gospel of Kier for years 😄😄😄
Never seen a bad episode though
What gets me is how the business has its tendrils in everything through the town. What *don't* they own? Who *can't* they control?
As corporate oligarchs take over the US, it feels eerie.
Jnnnn.
Also cure is apparently long dead and a figurehead more than an actual current leader.
Although who knows they might have him in a freezer somewhere
That stupid motherfucker is just torturing monkeys.
Also everything he touches is absolute shit. Not that he invented any of it himself, but he lies about his companies, hypes them up, & produces garbage
(BTW, on the podcast, early draft of pilot had Cobel torturing rats to show how severance chip worked.)
Like many serial killers, parental "issues". Mummy seems somewhat problematic to say the least and dad married his stepkid.
Satire is rarely subtle, often with the American audience the media literacy is so low that it will go over their heads.
When it was released Animal Farm was beaten to death by critics for being too on the nose.
Both are kind of “high-concept” shows. Giving the audience more credit would go a long way I feel.
Ha.
I think I'd prob be more like Helly R.
PISSED.
but like. it's fine.
it's totally fine.
The way they teach work as if it is a literal religion makes me think of how capitalism creating the sense of worship of consumerism. A religion taught to us by those who force us to labor and benefit from our purchases.
Ultimately everything flows towards them.
