With the integrated stand now and the hardware, it would be capable of office-like use like that. Though that isn't really Nintendo "style" so I doubt it.
it’ll be for gameplay mechanics, like FPS aim for Metroid, though Nintendo love trying quirky new mechanics each generation - Wii motion, dual screen (DS), IR camera on joycons, etc - they’re going to throw it to their game devs to come up with some novel gameplay mechanics
Yes, obviously it’s for charging. “Magnets” don’t magically remove all the strain that the connector will be exposed to when removing the joy cons or if a kid sticks something in between the sides
Okay but y'all can buy a can of electrical contact cleaner (WD-40 makes a good one) and spray a little of it under your joycon analog sticks to fix 99% of drift issues
as someone who has been Switch-curious for years, drift-proof sticks (which are already on the market in third party controllers) would make me a much more likely buyer of the Switch 2
The funniest thing to me is how Nintendro fans always chant "Nintendo innovates" and now they are already excited for what for all intents and purposes could be seen as a Switch Pro.
Tho the Switch similar to the Wii was supported by the casuals... which they went "I already own a Nintendo" and move on with life because it was just a fad for them. We'll see if the same happens again with the Switch XL
I have no doubt about the Nintendo fanatics wanting any and all things related to a new Switch model the moment their able to start spending their money. I foresee plenty of videos with people crying holding their newly purchased console.
Tho real, there's nothing to be down about... or up... like they just showed a Switch XL. We know next to nothing apart from it looks like a slightly larger switch.
Like does MK9 have bad controls like 8? Does this Switch have a gamepad mode? Who knows. Wait til Apr
The problem is that people dont think about the state of the industry. If everyone playing video games were aware and fully understood just how many ways they are being exploited and lied to most of the corporations would go bankrupt overnight. The best we can do is to try educating people.
So we're just gonna pretend the N64 doesn't exist?
We're gonna act like the fuckin ATARI 2600 didn't have drift -free joysticks?
Joysticks were developed for arcade-level abuse, to make them the shitty devices that can't take any level of wear took additional engineering.
ALSO the atari 2600 stick, like basically all arcade sticks at the time, were digital. not analog. so of course they didnt drift, they literally couldnt. they only had 8 input directions and not thousands.
Pc mouse use to allow more games. Styles and porting of other games. I'm here for it. Lateral use of existing technology (Nintendo's philosophy) at its best.
if you look at the video they have notches in the blue/red protrusions that snap to the switch body. The hand straps have buttons to disconnect on the front/top

I am certain the people that made the trailer put this drifting thing in as a joke.
Wish I had upvotes or something to give, got an actual laugh out of me
I FOUND YOU
It'll be interesting to see if this gets used or goes the way of the right joycon IR sensor.

Honestly they should scream like N64 kid.
Looking forward to the new generation of gaming and Mario kart.

Much worse than the prior games. Like it's playable if you accept most parts are worthless but meh...
It's why I can't be mad at people "part of the problem" because the people can't be the solution unless we're all banned together.
Which, it's intentionally very difficult for us to do so.
The Wii U sold poorly because the casuals moved on because the Wii was a fad for them.
Well that and everyone was broke and homeless.

Engineers in the 00s/10s: we've added controller drift back now to sell more controllers.
