Every B2B corporate gig Iβve ever worked at has completely misinterpreted the function of writing as βimproving SEO.β They do not understand how to serve and develop community.
That's a damned shame. Bandcamp was a great resource and one of the few places I would willingly spend money on music online. Explicitly because I could download and archive FLAC's so it could never just be taken, unlike streaming.
Isn't "firing the negiciation team" covered under union busting laws? I thought the US, for all its faults in union laws, was supposed to have pretty robust protection once one was active.
What's the penalty? A fine to the company? All that does is make the owner class calculate the cost/benefit, and they'll pay in the short-term if it's good in class warfare.
And to be clear, it's not hard to block a layoff: I at least know US judges have that power in appropriate cases. That also would be a start. Maybe looking at the whole Bandcamp sale under the lense of workers protection would be possible. It certainly is covered by a few laws around the world.
Right, what I'm getting at is "there are laws" is a toothless answer for a perpetrator who's willing to be bit, which owners overwhemingly are in the case of union busting.
Iβm so sorry, we went through layoffs after unionizing as well. If thereβs any light at the end of the tunnel, my union just won our NLRB case over bad faith negotiations over the layoffs (among other charges) and got everyone reinstatement and back pay. Busy itβs a long, hard road getting there
Hold your horses, I'm going, I'm going. These things don't sharpen themselves, you know? The blade is very big, and I'm very poor and smol, so you can imagine the stress I am under.

But at the minimum, severance with prejudice would be a plus to the workers.
You and the others have done amazing work with the Daily and to see it decimated is gross and heartbreaking to say the least. Solidarity.
