As Bob knows, the whole idea of the American not-for-profit (or "regional" if you must but please don't) theater was that it was about institutions. Foreman (like Breuer and others) was an example of what it would be like if the theater was about artists.

Some producers, like Bob and Roche at the Goodman, tried very hard to make the former serve the latter, and often succeeded. But as he notes, it wasn't easy. Anyway, RIP Mr. Foreman, who gave a lot of people a lot of pleasure.

Yeah, he really was something.
I tried to get him do do something at the Goodman, but we could never make it work. I really found him an inspiration in so many ways; how he worked in space - movement, sound. A singular artist.
