Trump could announce a plan for boots on the ground, congressional Republicans would (publicly, at least) go all in, the MSM would present it as if there were merit to an invasion, and half of Americans would go feral with "patriotism."
No one is going to stop him, no matter how deranged his plans.
Yeah, but they wouldn't mind that they truly have lost their minds.
It would be hilarious to see how you guys would handle this. I'm guessing it would not go down as he thinks it would.
I've driven through Canada, met a ton of Canadians. You guys use proper English and even your truck stops serve food, like food food. Edible food. I almost cried when I had to hop on back to south.
I'm sure this is just a massive distraction for very nefarious but much more realistic things to come in a massive amount of Executive Orders on the 20th. Some media stunts for the public/media to muck around with and then a bunch of nonsense things to keep the Congress occupied.
Well if they merged then King Charles of England would be the sovereign for the whole of North America once again. Since he already has a son living in California he could appoint him the Viceroy of America, and get rid of the redundant role of President.
Never. The fuck ever.

What has been the reaction from the Canadian right wingers that tend to love Trump's whole vibe? I'm curious if their nationalism or desire for an authoritarian leader is stronger in this moment.
I think the US would have a difficult time invading a nation whose people and culture are similar to its own, and where everyone speaks English. It's already proven to have a hard time invading nations of people "foreign" to them, what happens when the resistance looks like them? Plus it'd Article 5
Not to mention how fucking big Canada is. The US would have to contend with resistance cells in the cities, and then people forming camps in the middle of fucking nowhere for a guerilla war.
Not to mention Ukraine's resistance to a larger power has taught that innovation and resilience overcomes.
Just because Fox or Newsmax or whatever managed to locate the one Canadian who likes Trump he makes it sound like the whole country wants to become a part of Dumbfuckistan.
And we'd just *love* having our universal health care ripped away, and becoming subject to bankruptcy for such unusual medical procedures as a) having a baby, b) appendicitis, c) tonsillectomy...
Trust me, the lower taxes in the US doesn't cover *half* of normal medical costs.
Canadian principles are more aligned with a European mindset rather than trumps US. God forbid that they ever want to merge with those morons south of the boarder.
I hate to disappoint but Canadians would not vote at the polls. Historically forced into a corner we managed to add a couple paragraphs to the Geneva Convention…
No. Get your own house in order. We’re not your on-demand voters. Whether it’s our oil, our water, or our citizens themselves you’re after, Molon Labe.
Honestly they should be the 51st through 55th states, all divided up with a ton of Texas and Florida's EC votes distributed amongst them. Great plan, no notes
We do have school shootings in Canada, though. In my city of Montréal: Polytechnique 1989, Concordia 1992, Dawson College 2006. But we do take measures to stop it, and owning a gun is not enshrined in the constitution. It's much less of an issue than in the US...
Yeah, that should make a difference. To have a stupid amendment like that 2nd one in there...
I mean, what country should encourage citizens to go arm up against the government, right? What could go wrong...
Say what you will about Trump, but the fact that a majority of Americans chose to entrust their future to a delusional clown is a sobering indictment of collective judgment.
I'm not disputing the gist of your comment, just want to point out that it wasn't a majority of Americans. Only 64% of eligible American's voted, and trump failed to earn 50% of those votes... 49.9%. So basically, only 32% of American's voted *for* him.

I only stress this because I hate the narrative that "a majority elected him." It makes it sound like he has a mandate of the people, which he clearly does not.
Donald Trump secured approximately 77.3 million votes, representing 49.9% of the popular vote, while Kamala Harris garnered about 75 million votes, accounting for 48.4%. This resulted in a margin of roughly 2 million votes in Trump’s favor.
I recognize that 75 million people—roughly 32% of the electorate—chose not to vote, yet from the standpoint of those who participated, it still reflects the majority of active voters.
Lol. I'm Canadian, we are very used to our southern neighbors doing strange things from time to time. Zero concern. Trump is really talking about our low miltary spending, which I agree with, we should be spending 2-3% of GDP.
Bhahaha. That fat, bloviating imbecile. When he tariffs the oil those Yankees need, and drives up affordability - his governors will be begging him to stop. He’ll end up premier of Canada’s 11th province. Not the reverse.
If I wanted to give Trump some constructive criticism, Americans were able to travel to Canada on day trips without a passport before 911. Maybe bringing that back would be good. But this 51st-state thing could piss off Canadians.
He's just a fucking moron being a dick to appeal to his evil voters. They think that angering or harming others is a good thing and all forms of consideration, compassion, or empathy are contemptible traits to be condemned in others. For humor value, most of them call themselves Christian.
Where would Americans migrate to every time a wrong political party wins (or steals) elections, if USA annexes Canada? Surely not to Mexico, they already struggle with migrants 😏

This attack on 🇨🇦 sovereignty is undiplomatic & stupid.
Nobody or very few people want to be governed by a convicted felon, rapist & con man who is only interested in himself.
MAGA are too ? to realize Don is using them.
Canada stays independent🇨🇦🇨🇦

Showing his true colours now.
Totalitarianism.
If we put a retaliatory tariff on Canadian comedy, the US would quickly be a very humorless place.
And also, the new map of the US would look ridiculous if Canada was just ONE state.
I mean, really. 🤦♂️
It would be hilarious to see how you guys would handle this. I'm guessing it would not go down as he thinks it would.
Imagine the guerilla warfare opportunities.

I didn't vote for this asshole.
Instead of trying to garner support, he deepens the divide.
Unleashing psychological warfare on citizens?!?
It's not the intelligence services or universities Trump should fear, it's everyday families.
I mean, what country should encourage citizens to go arm up against the government, right? What could go wrong...

It's "oranged".
Although in truth probably deranged too.
Luckily Muskow brings sanity to proceedings.
Or maybe not.
I can guarantee you that this is something the Republicans do not want
So embarrassed to be an American 🤦♂️
