πͺπΊππ¨π³ The EU and China have agreed to look into setting minimum prices on Chinese-made electric vehicles instead of tariffs imposed by the EU last year, - Reuters

or agree to share equally, getting tired of this "screw you jack we must be all right" so we win you lose, mentality, how about we all do well equally ?
Danish EV sales, Q1 2025. Considering the time spent discussing Chinese EVs in Danish Facebooks groups, their actual marketshare here is very, very small.
One Japanese and one Korean model - the rest are produced in Europe. Not because of price, because of overall quality (especially software).
The entire list of sales per make can be seen here - the first Chinese car on the list is Xpeng with a total of 611 cars in Q1. That is less than 10% of what VW alone sold in Q1.
The US has missed that electric bus/train/taxi in the EU market. Tsla has become persona non grata outside of US and Ford and especially GM shot themselves in the EV foot by trying to create only higher end EV models instead of pushing low priced EVs.
Wait, that means, we the consumers pay a higher price, and that money goes to China? That sounds like a stupid move. They will invest this money to dominate the markets outside of the EU even harder.
Or alternatively a balance is struck that allows all 1.5 billion people to prosper equally fairly, or do you prefer one side to win and the other side to lose ?
Yes, Japan and South Korea, which are friendly democracies. China isn't. Maybe it flies below the radar of most people. But under Biden they started to work out port fees for all Chinese produces vessels operated by any company. Up to 3 Million per ship and port. Exactly to change the situation.
Judging China from a western POV is fraught with difficulty, we would do well not to cast aspersions on Chinese governance looking at our own hypocritical systems, the Palestinians would attest to that, we are in no position to moralise about "democratic values" quite the opposite in reality
Untariffed Chinese cars with no minimum price would cost 1000s of EU car plant workers their jobs , there may still be some job losses but China will now sell cars at the same prices as European built ones.
Spot on Jim. In fact, discussions should be opened on wider Chinese support for Russiaβs war of aggression. China has massive production capacity tied up in EVs . This is an opportunity to negotiate an end to their support for Russia.
The few volunteer CN troops aren't the major problem. China's political and financial backing of Russia is.
And yes, this should definitely be a major part of the negotiations.
(Major gains to be had for China, when they finally drop support of Putin).
Interesting approach, a moment of consideration and clear thinking. EU canΒ΄t allow crashing our EV market. I witness it closely when Chinese solar panels destroyed Austrian companies.
They pay workers $2 an hour and they work 7 days a week. You pay workers $20 an hour and European workers work 4 days a week. Your workers end up all get fired but you can buy cheap cars. Is this a good deal?
Legacy auto did that with slow-walking, and reluctance to innovate. And allowing Trump to enable them further, compounded the mistake.
Elon screwed Tesla by doubling down on robotaxi and cancelling the $25000
affordable vehicle.
Americans lose, because Chinese EVs are affordable and better.

Also allow the public to buy chinese vehicles, but teach them the differences with an established (eg. Japanese, German) brand.
Free market compromising on all sidesβ¦

An intelligent and fair compromise.

I cannot believe we're going to have to fight person by person for our rights while this regime kidnaps Americans by the hundreds...

A two-way thing.
Make no mistake.
It is as stupid to trade with China as it was purchasing gas from ruzzia.
Eller sΓ₯ skulle enskilda lΓ€nder och/eller EU infΓΆra ett importstopp.
The big 3 have lost ground to SK and JP EVs.
EU wants people to buy European cars.
Tariffs would do that PLUS (indirectly) hurt China.
Minimum prices would do that WITHOUT hurting China (more or less, it's complicated).
Scalpel vs. Brick.

They burst into flames, the doors lock, kill their occupants
Even the buses when parked.

Industry wide because it's the only way they can compete with each other while maintaining the regular level of corruption and Chinese fantasy.
And The airbags are faulty.. and the "self driving" just drives into stationary objects and kills you.

Seems fair that trade agreements amongst insulted countries would change in a way that did not bode well for Trump or Musk.
False flag operations.
