As an Alumni of SNSPA, I co-authored an open letter, signed by a few hundreds of graduates and supporters: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wXyR_xXN7_LETvk6AaWjRJemeW-n-varQQCmpib4_-o/edit?tab=t.0. We sent it to SNSPA this Monday, but of course no one bothered to respond.

All members of CIVICA institutions should call on their universities to vote to suspend SNSPA from CIVICA. Trump is attacking universities and threatening democracy. We are all now tainted by association with SNSPA!

It is an embarrassment. Probably a politically motivated initiative (at least in part) by the rector of the school who, after just a couple of days following the announcement, filed his candidacy for the presidential elections (although it hasn’t been validated).

As far as I can surmise, this is correct. The proposal was, to my understanding, put on the agenda without prior notice, but the Senate members did vote for it (except the students who opposed it or abstained). My feeling is a wide majority of students and faculty oppose it, but privately.
