I wish I had been older in 1995 to experience this. Been to see Skunk Anansie a few times and always been impressed with their live set. Seen Bjork once and *ahem* ... fell asleep. Doubt that would have happened with this collaboration.
Can anyone explain why this is talked about in the comments as a great song? The lyrics seem banal and repetitive for starters. Any insights greatly appreciated.
Young men in the 90s had to choose between skanks and rockers. Courtney Love being at one end of the scale and Bjork at the other.
Thats all I've been able to understand about her fans. Her music, singing, and lyrics are catchy.
Björk's vocal control is otherworldly. I linked a cool music theory video I just watched today on this song. The bass line using such a unique scale really sets the song apart as something unique as well.
I think I first saw Sugarcubes on MTV’s 120 Minutes. I was *immediately* captivated by Bjork. Her first record, Debut, was so fresh and ahead of its time. I am still buying Bjork’s music today.
Skunk Anansie. There's a name I haven't heard in a hot minute. I recollect her song "Selling Jesus" being used in the Ralph Fiennes movie "Strange Days".
my phd thesis deals with miming and payola; I am also a producer of live music tv shows; from what I can see, the vocals seem live; in TOTP (as in countless other lip-syncing shows) certain acts used their leverage, demanded to play live and the producers reluctantly obliged…
I wouldn't call myself a fan of her music, but I still appreciate her weirdness. Heck, I might even go to one of her concerts just to experience her weirdness live for once!
Oh bum it linked to the whole album- it’s Dust to Dust from that album anyhow. And obviously I mean Locrian mode, rather than the the DeLorean time-travel mode
They put it on the Army of Me single with a rad remix by Grahsm Massey from 808 State that made the song with her. The last track on Post is dedicated to him.
I went in to be a lifelong Bjork devotee, forgot about Skunk Anansie for almost 30 years and rediscovered the MI soundtrack and covered their song on that album in the band I’m in with my wife.
Damn I LOVE bjork but that would have sucked to see live. Actually her red rocks concert I saw sucked too- I think it was the vulnica tour or something.

Cool song, cool flick.
yes. i do. I love everything Bjork does.
However, this rocks, and I reckon seeing them play it live would have been awesome.
Discovered it in the sucker punch movie.
That base is thrilling.

Because they made a noise that would never leave me.
I mean - haven't these people seen her describing how the electronics of a tv works?!
(I may be conflating two separately adorable events)
She's literally the sapiosexiest, most creative person I ever encountered as a young man.
My bestie and I were kinda obsessed for a bit
Yup - we can stand by our stance. History will prove us right. :)
Even my sexuospicy daughter thinks I'm weird for my poorly concealed Bjork interest.
She's like a mad pixie (talking about the Icelandic one) who you know will teach you things before taking your soul.
And she's clever as all fuck
Less than that crazy guy tho, but still a lot.
i did hear skunk on Sevendust’s Home cd, Tony Iommi’s cd , and the Cruel Intentions cd. I enjoyed all of it.
